Can anyone shed some light on the construction that has recently started just West of JSP and Britannia? Sorry in advance if this topic is being discussed elsewhere; I did a search on the forum but couldn't find anything.

The large block of land east and north of the houses is owned by Sundial homes I believe. I will check the developments map when I get back into the office this afternoon if somebody else hasn't responded by then.

I asked Councillor Cluett, they are clearing some ditches in the area as part of fall/winter preparation to prevent flooding.

Appreciate the replies!

It appears as though a complex of some sort is being built given how large an area is fenced off. There are "truck entrance" signs which I wouldn't expect if the town was just clearing ditches. It looks as though they are leveling the ground?

There aren't any development applications in for that area even in the preliminary stages.

Thanks for your insight Kim :) I was surprised to see how quickly the area was fenced off and all of the truck activity as I hadn't heard of anything going on in that particular area of Britannia just West of JSP.

Drove by there tonight. I'm checking with Mike again. Maybe I wasn't clear on the location. We think it's a soil dump or construction equipment storage site/construction office. You're right - it doesn't look like they are working on the ditches.

Really appreciate you checking with Mike again. It was just such a bizarre thing; one day open field the next, full on construction zone with no indication of what was being built.

Hi there,

Through Colin and Jim at Public Works, it has been relayed that the area in question is being used as a soil stockpile for Sundial Homes. Appreciate all of the replies to the original post :)

That makes much more sense! And since Colin is on Public Works (chairs the admin and public works committee) he'd know. He's an encyclopedia for that stuff.
