I hope there is discussion at council and with the public to set priorities and review resulting maintenance/operating costs.
Hahaha good one garlis! I haven't laughed that hard in weeks. Discussion at council and with the public? Dude, do you even live in Milton? That NEVER happens here.
No disagreement here.
It always amazes me how quickly a newly-elected sensible neighbour can morph into a big spending municipal politician. They seem to get wide-eyed and giggly when a new source of funds appears. Milton has had $5.5 million per year from Mohawk, return of GTA Pooling funds, the original gas tax revenue, the earlier stimulus program, regular annual surplus (over-taxation), big Development Charge revenue, growth in the tax base - and now more gas tax and stimulus.
New money seems to disappear into a black hole of spending with little or no discussion by council and little public awareness if it can be avoided. Of course, regardless of the level of new funding, council still finds a way to increase taxes or add a levy whether needed or not.
