NIT, you know I have Beagles. Now Miss Sarah used to make a gawd awful noise, sometimes for a reason...someone walking past the house, another animal, whatever and she eventually quieted down to the point that my neighbours asked me if I had gotten rid of her. Now that I live in a townhome, my neighbour once told me that she heard my dog over the course of several hours when I wasn't home. She wasn't making a complaint of it, just letting me know about it. As a result I purchased a collar with a box on it that either vibrates (yes, vibrates not a shock and yes I have tried it on myself) or emits a high pitched frequency. Sarah only barked once that I was aware of. Now, the battery has been dead on it for the past year so it doesn't work, but she doesn't know it and the behaviour modification premise still works...a quiet girl, the neighbours haven't heard her since. With respect to outside, my dog's bark as well but that is what a dog does. I do tell them a firm "quiet" and if it continues then they are brought in. Now if it has anything to do with a cat or vermin, there's no chance I can even get them to hear me because they are then in hunt mode and I need to physically bring them inside. Good luck with your noise control. I have a neighbour who's dog barks continually but it is because it is put outside and left there all day and sometimes late into the night in the summer. It has a dog house, but it is obviously trying to tell it's owners something.

fsty...I have the vibrating collar (I bought it when DH and I still lived in an appartment in Toronto and we didn't want her to bark). It worked wonders but then she got used to it and would bark anyways. Your doggies listen to you...mine couldn't care less. You had to see DH out in the yard today at 5am, trying to bring them back inside cause they wouldn't listen.

NIT, have you tried the citronella collar? It sprays a burst of citronella when they bark. I might still have mine if you want to try it

But if the poster does satisfy the dog then we will all mock them in a new bestiality thread
