It is very difficult to make sense of something as heinous and selfish as the act of killing a child. The suicide only complicates the issue further, but it does not detract from the fact that an adult took the life of a child. An innocent child who was defenseless of the calculating decision made regarding his fate. A fate this child had absolutely no say in and could not prevent. An incredibly cowardly act, that was self serving and obviously retaliatory in nature. Whatever the motive was, or the circumstances in this situation, there is no justifiable reason for taking a child's life. It is wrong to speculate or try to determine why he did this. The very senseless nature of this crime makes it difficult to conceptualize "why" this happened. I think, as a community, we are all deeply affected by this terrible event (I live very closely too) and need to lend support to the surviving family and to the neighbours around us.
Here are some interesting statistics I found online:
Quote:
In 2008 there were 536 murder-suicides in the United States and in 2009 there were 733 murder-suicides. Ninety-two percent of these were carried out by men and majority of the victims were female, 200 of the victims were children
.
RIP Noah...
Quote:
“Fathers shall not be put to death because of their children, nor shall children be put to death because of their fathers. Each one shall be put to death for his own sin."
Taken from the bible, but still appropriate for today.
