For anyone interested in participating in the future plans for Milton and Halton there is two important meetings this week which are the last open houses before the issues are debated at both councils.

The first is tomorrow night Tuesday November 3rd from 6 to 9 pm with a presentation at 7 pm. in the auditorium of Bishop Reding High School on Main St. E. just east of Thompson Road and the Milton Leisure Centre. This is a public information centre (see attached link) highlighting the Sustainable Halton plans including the financial costs involved. This process also includes the Education Village, Natural Heritage System and about 63,000 new residents for the Milton area south of Britannia road and east of 4th Line and along the Trafalgar Road corridor.

The second meeting is being held by the Town for the intensification plans and policies for the pre 2003 urban area and the Provincial Urban Growth area (see the public notice in Friday's Champion) to be held Wednesday November 4th at 7.30-9 pm in the banquet room at the rear of the Milton Sports centre at the corner of Derry road and Santa Maria Blvd.

This is the second and more detailed public meeting to review and comment on the staff reports and previous publice input from the first public meeting held earlier this year.

To meeting the Provincial intensification guidelines for 40% of new growth within current urban areas after the year 2015 up to the 2031 target of the Places to Grow plan the Town and Regional staff estimate Milton's share is about 5000 homes or 14,000 people within the 2003 urban area.

Come out to either meeting and let the planners know what you think about the plans and what you want for Milton's and Halton's future.
