Hey guys,
I'm moving into Milton in June. I was just wondering if Milton had any plans on building a newer/bigger catholic church? I stopped by Holy Rosary but it seemed like a really small church and I was wondering how chaotic Sunday masses were?

ANSWER: So it turns out all the masses are crowded. The good news is that there's a new church coming (don't know when)! See link below:
http://www.holyrosaryparish.ca/New-Parish/location.htm

ALSO
The thread has changed its topic to the history of Easter Eggs somehow, since many people are interested in its origins. Here's a wiki article on it:

I agree, it is suprising that the town has only one Catholic Church supporting so many residents. I spoke with someone who has been living in Milton a few years and although there have been some efforts to build one, it is currently in limbo. If there is anyone in the community that has spoken to Father Peter regarding this, please post what you know.

I attended a Baptism there a few years back and they had a fundraising "thermometer" for a new building. No idea if it's for a complete second church or if they're just going to build a bigger one and sell the current property.

Currently, part of the Sunday collection can be donated towards a fund to build a new church. At a recent evening meeting, the bishop of the diocese was asked about the building of a new church and his reply was "soon". The church serves 6000 families so you can appreciate the fact that it is rather full during most masses except maybe the 5 PM mass on Sat. A new mass has been added on Sun at 1 PM making a total of 4 Sun masses.

I attend the Saturday at 5pm mass and it is packed. From my understanding, they are all packed. I had to get up in the middle of mass once because I wasn't feeling well, and there were probably 100 people standing at the back and along the sides and maybe another 40 people standing in the lobby. The pews were also full. I usually get there around 4:35 or 4:40 and there's already I'd say 100 people there. I prefer the 5pm because I like the choir/band.

Wow, I am stunned to hear so many people regularly attending mass ... looks like the faith is alive and well in Milton :) I am encouraged by the Bishop's comments and believe that with so many folks at church, a fund for a new church should be easy to Market with a hot summer likely this year ;)

Very true, if that was a comment about Mohammed it would make the 6:00 news.

The Catholic church doesn't have any funds left in the account. The money went to compensate the sexual abuse victims.

Really!!! How rude...
Do you wanna tell all other religions don't have similar issues if not worse? But they keep it hush hush or the victims won't see day light again.

Proud to be Catholic!
Happy Easter believers and hope to see a second church real soon.

I suppose it depends on how you define a church. Non Catholics may not be aware of this, but a "church" is the building where members of a geographical area come together to share in the traditions of their faith. So long as there are Catholics who want to gather in one place to continue practicing their traditions, as they have done for two thousand years even in the face of many periles, they will continue to build churches and Milton seems to have many people willing to do this.

Happy Easter to everyone
