I have a lot of miscellaneous clothing that I would like to donate to a good cause. Not interested in dropping/throwing them into the road-side bins. Any thoughts or ideas on places locally? |

Salvation Army is where I take our stuff. They have trailer for donation drop-off at the landfill on Hwy 25 (before the gate/weigh station so you don't pay to go in). I find it's more convenient than the thrift store where the drop-bin can be overflowing with stuff. https://www.halton.ca/cms/One.aspx?port ... geId=12668 You could also contact Halton Women's Place. Here's their current needs list. http://haltonwomensplace.com/donate/shelter-needs-list/ |

Diabetes association will pick up your donation from your curb. You can call them to arrange it |

There are boxes outside the women's shelter. They empty them on a regular basis and aren't 'on the side of the road' |

Great question by the OP. I have a bunch of brand-name and designer clothes I have a hard time parting with, but they have to go as they're taking up too much space, and I don't want to just dump it in some random box, I want to know a reputable place that will put them to good use and really help the clothes reach people in need. |

It says right on the boxes that they are for the women's shelter. You could always call them, tell them your concern and see what they say. |

It says right on the women's shelter website that they only take NEW items of those they have listed as needing fyi. |

Hmmm weird. It doesn't say new items only on those boxes outside the shelter...but does say that they go to them...so I'm not sure. The best bet is to call them or email them to find out for sure what would happen to your stuff if you put it in there! I emailed when I put a donation (not of clothing though) and they were very helpful! |

Maybe it's only those items they want new. "Your gift of any of the following items, new only, would be much appreciated at this time!" |
