Oh, so you have to wait until your second post to ask a business to suck your balls?

There are many businesses that have been here a long time, they did not get this way by sub standard customer service, maybe instead of complaining to your internet friends, re approach the business or quite simply shop some whereelse.

Well,,,, actually the current rule says -

If you are a new user, do not make any of your first dozen posts a complaint or negative review on an issue.

So, you are correct in that any venom filled hater could join and make 12 irrelevant posts in 15 minutes and then do their damage so -

Perhaps it should also include a minimum seven day time frame as well as a minimum of 12 posts. This will give the venom some time to subside in people whose only intention is to cause damage to business where half the time it is likely not deserved.

Does this rule apply if a new user wants to join in and create dozens of posts complaining about about a person? or is just regulated to a business?

I dunno. Try it and see. Or just ask Rick Di Lorenzo - it's hard to know what he's talking about with those rules he wrote up. But these people you speak of have in the past been banned and measures have been taken to prevent it from happening in the future.

These rules, like the other ones on religion and being mean to people, will be randomly enforced when convenient for those with the buttons to do so.

Thanks for the clarification. I just wanted to be sure that Defamation of Character, (Cyber)-Libel & Slander were not excluded in that rule.

Whatever - you're getting to legal for me to care. Not my ass on the line. The intent of this whole thing is to just prevent general douchebaggery when it comes to people trying to earn an honest living.

I'm all for preventing general douchebaggery, and for the record, i don't own any small business in town or anywhere else. But what really is the basis for this rule? If it was for preventing "general" douchebaggery, then why does it only pertain to attacks on small businesses and not attacks on other people? It seems more like it is for preventing a very specific form of douchebaggery - the kind that targets small businesses or businesses generally. I remember a post a while back from Rick explaining the whole legal headache when someone writes to complain/threaten about something on his site criticizing someone's business. Is that the actual basis? That would be understandable, but that's different than a goal of preventing general douchebaggery. And if that's the basis, then I don't see what difference it makes how many posts a poster has. And on that note, even if the goal was to prevent general douchebaggery, then a better rule would be that again, it doesn't matter how many posts a poster has.

Since my keystrokes were unjustly wiped from the intarweb forum, I suspect the cj's brother in law is the all eyes on you guy. Either that or he offered him free glasses.
