For any property owners and users of Tremaine Road between the Main St. W. traffic circle and the new Steeles Avenue traffic circle just east of the existing Tremaine/Steeles intersection. Regional staff and consultants are holding a Public Information Centre next Tuesday March 5th from 6 to 9 pm in the Milton Sports centre banquet room.

https://www.google.com/calendar/event?e ... ca/Toronto

The plan is similar to the new section of Tremaine between Derry road and Main St. W. for a 4 lane arterial urban road with bike lanes and multi-use path to eventually connect to a #401 highway interchange. No with the OMB appeal adjourned the next section from Steeles to the new #401 interchange can get started soon.

This is the detailed plan similar to the drawings presented at the Derry road underpass and shows where the new roadway will go and the locations relative to properties in the area for entrances, drainage and other issues.

If you have an interest in this project please come out and check out the details with staff who can advise the contractors of any concerns before construction starts this spring. I will be there with other councillors to hear your concerns and comments.

Colin Best
Local & regional councillor
Wards 2,3,4,5 North of Derry road.

There was a good crowd out tonight to ask questions of regional staff. As soon as the maps and information boards are online I will post the links. Many area residents along Tremaine Road east side had some concerns about noise from a widened Tremaine but it will be diverted to the west a little north of 14th sideroad to a new location of Steeles and Tremaine east of its current location.

There will be a roundabout at Steeles and Tremaine ... I know the question will come up.

Expected time of completion will be spring/summer of 2014 if all goes well.

There will be another PIC for Tremaine Road south of that area coming up soon so we'll be able to provide some more input on that proposal.

Thanks to Colin for taking the "first shift" of assisting regional staff with questions. There were a lot of residents who came out after 7 to view the plans.

Thanks Mike for taking the second shift.

Yes there was a number of residents there from around the area interested in the next section of the Tremaine road re-alignment from Steeles Avenue to #5 side road north of the #401 including the #401 interchange. Hopefully now with the Boyne Survey DC appeals finished this section which is funded by those development charges can get started soon.

Staff and consultants are reviewing the comments from last night and the panel displays are being posted on the regional website http://www.halton.ca today for any additional comments.

Looking forward to the next public information centre on March 14th from 6 to 9 pm in the banquet room of the Milton Sports Centre reviewing the plans for Tremaine road between Britannia and Derry road.

Both projects tender awards should be made at the April regional council meeting for construction to start later this spring along with the Derry road underpass and the completion of the Town's Louis St. Laurent Blvd. construction project from Bronte to Derry road which should be open later this year with completion in the spring of 2014 to connect the Harrison neighbourhood with the Willmott neighbourhood and the new Catholic High school at Bronte & Louis and the Fieldgate Commercial retail area which should be presented to council for approval in April.

Looking forward to the road being a 4 lane vs a 2 lane, and moving to a 60kph instead of 80kph god knows why (but I guarantee its coming)

So is the official Hatlon Region plan still to tear up this road in 8 years and expand it to 6 lanes from 401 to Derry? Sounds like a very efficient plan to me.

That wasn't the impression I got. It's more like avoiding ever having to go to 6 lanes unless absolutely necessary. The EA to go from 2 to 4 took a tremendous amount of time. To do another EA to go from 4 to 6 is not something they really want to do if they don't have to given the ecological sensitivity of the area (read costly and time consuming). Changing employment areas in and around Milton change traffic patterns, plus increased transit use combined could make going to 6 unnecessary. That was my interpretation of the answer from the planners anyways.
