Sorry nilton. Just home from the record planning meeting with nearly 40 speakers. Changing the weather is up to a higher power. Check with the Mayor's office. Colin Best |

Hey! That was too easy a question for him!! Colin, how did you vote on the red light camera issue? Were you for or against it? What are your thoughts on the very real possibility that we could be using tax payer money to potentially make an intersection like Derry and Trafalgar less safe than it currently is? |

Colin’s a far brighter politician then Tony. He knows when he’s sticking it to the voters, and when it’s in his interest to slither under a rock somewhere. |

I'm sure Colin would have a better explanation for his marked silence on the issue...... but since he's never told us what it is, I guess we are left to speculate... Besides, if people think you are slithering under a rock somewhere on an issue, that can't be that great politically, I would think. |

So I don't think that it's a lack of time. |

So I don't think that it's a lack of time. It was a little tongue in cheek obviously, and I do agree that of course many of our fine councillors pick and choose the threads they choose to wade in on. I would do the same thing. My guess by his evasiveness is that he is also pro RLC, but after seeing Tony walk on his own landmine in that other thread, would you jump in and say 'hey, I want my legs blown off too!' Happy Spring everyone! |

I have to agree with that. Tony shows why it’s not worth engaging in a debate online, but then I’d think Colin is more capable of offering well thought out arguments, so I’d doubt it would be the train wreck Tony so often creates for himself. Also in Colin’s defense, he has no obligation to participate in any online debate. Yes it’s self-serving that he’s too happy to engage people where it’s safe to do, but everything he does here is voluntary to start with. That’s why I’ve never given him *too* hard a time for avoiding the touchy subjects. If you feel strongly about a decision he’s made, write to him personally, and/or vote on it next election. Thats my plan. |

Well I doubt he's going to respond now on this now, guys. I just thought it would only be fair that BOTH regional councillors who post here receive the same treatment on something that they seem to have voted the same way on - with the same facts, or serious lack of, presented to them. I like Colin. I really only follow local politics through this forum, and through that, Colin has not really done anything to sour my opinion of him. He writes well, seems to have good knowledge of the town's history, and can find links on the town website better than anyone you can think of. Staying out of a no-win debate just might be smart too. Or maybe not? Or, for all we know, he's carefully crafting a response that will shut us all up as I type this. He could be that good. Remember: More accidents + Less safe + tax dollars = Safer. FACT. |

StandardBroadband wrote: i have a camera at Erin Mills and 403 and it goes off every few minutes and the number of serious accidents that take place at this intersection is very very high. Always lots of damage and injuries so i am not suer if this stops people. it is a very vry bad intersection but the camera only points south and a majority of the accidents all go south ?????? Do people even pay attention in the long run ?? PUT DOWN THE CELL PHONES !!!! How many is very very high? I doubt it could possibly be as high as the dangerous intersection of Derry and Trafalgar. That intersection has almost 1.6 angular accidents a year. But it's still not enough as the region wants to pay money for more accidents of other varieties to spread it out. Also, the camera is yours? Do you charge Peel Region $500 000 to operate it? I guess if you have to snap so many pictures you'd be justified in charging $750 000/yr. |
