Since this device has been available for a little over a month now, I was wondering what people's thoughts were of those who have these smartphones?

I hate it. I can’t type at all ( but that is my fault, not the device) I just miss the keyboard.

The Calendar has glitches on it. You can't edit your entry while inputting it. It kicks you out then you have to go back in to Edit. ( Annoying)
I have to constantly take my battery out to restart it, so that it actually Rings or makes noise when someone calls/emails ect. ( Fun times)

It also won’t sync to my car, sorry it does...however you can’t hear anything. Sync ppl say its the device, as the Torch works on it just fine! I'm not techy...so who knows!
So for the last month I have been not answering my phone while driving...convenient.
Hopefully others have liked it better.

Overall positive but as OS is new nowhere near app support of Android
There are some very strange bugs in initial releases (which I assume will be patched by now, the 8 screen save bug was just bizarre)
Battery is a toss up; some say it lasts forever others say lose power way too quickly

If this had of been released last year RIM would have made a killing.
With new phones from Samsung & HTC weeks away and Apples next release in summer I do not know if they are able to save the company
They have alot of brand loyalty though which helps

@MM strangely RIM devices have always sync better with my car than either Android device (Samsung/HTC) so it might be an issue of what version of bluetooth?

I know nobody will care, but I picked up a windows 8 phone last week and couldn’t be happier.

Many of the apps from the store are still a little rough around the edges, but those will improve over the next little while. All the core apps work fantastic, and I haven’t seen any glitches or crashes yet.

It might be worth looking at if you’re not sold on the Z10.

Is Apple already releasing a new phone? I just got the iPhone 5 last fall. My phone is going to be obsolete even before it's a year old!

Phones are the biggest waste of money ever, and we fall for their traps. At least they should be warranted to work as long as your contract. It's like they have a magic button in cyberspace. The week after your warranty is up, your phone breaks and you get stuck in your contract with your shitty broken phone or you can upgrade to another shitty phone that will cost you more then a mortgage payment, and it will break within a year too.

Sorry for the rant we have 3 kids with cells, plus our 2! It's so dame expensive.

It's going to be the release of the 5s. From reports, better processor, camera, and a few new features but basically the same phone. You are safe for at least 1-2 years before anything major changes.

At work I look after the corporate email and mobile devices, and we've had 3 people activate Z10 units on our Enterprise Server since release. 2 of them returned the units within 2-3 days. Our CIO said "it was so counter-intuitive I had an aversion to picking it up".

One user went back to his Windows 8 phone which he said was "far superior", our CIO went went back to an iPhone 5.

I'd think the fact that after 30 days we have ONE person using a Z10 to access corporate resources in a 5000 user company says something, and not something good.

Having used a Dev Alpha unit for several months, the final BB10 software since the end of January, and a Z10 for about a month I'd say it's a good upgrade for the die-hard BB fans who have held out for this device. It's a nice piece of hardware. The screen is excellent. The OS is a bit quirky and often bugs out. Many of the more detailed features from earlier BB OS versions are missing (assigning categories in contacts for example) but for the most part it's decent. iPhone and Android fans likely won't find too much to get excited about unless they are upgrading from an old device such as a 3G or 3GS.

App selection is poor. They may have 70,000 apps but if they're not the ones you want that doesn't do you much good. I listed 25 iOS apps I use regularly (either daily or several times per week) that are not available in AppWorld and there are few to no alternatives for the majority of them. There are a ton of crappy ported Android apps that low-end developers probably dumped there just to get a free device or two. Big name developers are few. That's not to say there's nothing good, but if you're heading in expecting the app selection to be on par with the App Store or Google Play you're in for disappointment.

The BlackBerry forums for the Z10 are loaded with mostly negative threads about missing features, things that don't work, things that changed for the worse, etc. If you are a hardcore BB user who gets into the nitty gritty features of your existing device, you might want to take some time to get familiar with what the new device won't do. If you get one, make sure you clearly understand the return policy of your carrier.

If all you want is a touchscreen BlackBerry that does mail, contacts, calendar, BBM and phone calls then you'll probably be happy. If you want more than that odds are you'll be less impressed.

That said, inevitably someone will come along to say it's the greatest phone ever and iPhone and Android can suck it, but to each their own.

OP, this is why you should just go in a store, test drive a few different phones, and pick the one you like the most. You are not going to get unbiased opinions from any message board, especially when the topic is electronic gadgets.

Ever notice how so many devices never have working display models? Such a pain...
If you bug the dealer maybe you are lucky and they have an open box but otherwise...

Best Buy is pretty good with having all of the top phones there for demo.

Correction: not true, I care. I am eyeing HTC 8x, what did you get? Whatever you have, install Nokia Drive with its offline map.

I got the Nokia 920. I’m not a fan of HTC, so it was between Samsung and Nokia for me. I choose Nokia for its build quality, camera, and Nokia apps which are exceptional. Down side is that battery life is a bit lacking, and it’s heavy. I get a max of 24 hours out of a charge, and as little as 10 hours with heavy use. Acceptable, but not stellar.

Nokia Drive is amazing. I’m upset that I wasted money on a new GPS two months ago - I no longer need it.

There’s no RBC banking app, which sucks, but they are working on it. The Facebook app is mediocre, and Skype doesn’t want to link into my windows Account, but it’s still a “Preview” release, which is odd considering MS owns Skype. I think within a year, the apps should be on par with iPhone or Android apps.

The family room is very cool (My wife also got a Win phone). We can share calendars, pics, documents etc. We’ve taken to maintaining a grocery list in that room, and if either of us go shopping, we can check off what we got and it’s automatically synced up between us.

Apple releases 1 phone each year. Samsung, HTC, Nokia, launch several new phones each year.

I bought it for my wife, and she loves it. There are some minor glitches in the OS like the calendar issue, the ringer issue (mentioned in earlier posts) and the battery life issue, however, they are getting corrected in OS releases coming out. They are expected to roll out some compatible apps such as Whatsapp, Kindle app, Skype, etc in the next few weeks ... so hang out tight :)

I myself am a hardcore blackberry fan (waiting for Q10 to come out - as I like physical keyboard) ... so to all the haters ... stand back and let the BB10 fly :)

Im the same way...waiting for the Q10. Everyone I know who's got the Z10 love it and now that the updates to the OS are out, those glitches talked about in previous posts have been resolved. I've tried the Z10 keyboard and it is good. It would take some time getting used to and until they dont make physical keyboards anymore, thats the one I'd go with.

Telus should be announcing soon a date for the beginning of April for the Q10...and I'll be in line up.
