| Post subject: | Canac cabinet frustration !! |
You know those really annoying hinges that Canac, (and Ikea for that matter...) uses on their cabinets ? We've got a few that no matter what we try..(loctite...muscle...) the screws keep coming loose, and the doors start sagging and falling...I'm ready to scream...! Any tips or hints to keep these things tight ? Pete |

I once want to reach attic and put my one foot on the top of the door and another on the ladder as my ladder is not tall enough. The door came off on both hinges. Long story short, I cut a picec of chop stick, hammer it into the screw hole and screw the hinge back on. It seems Ok. Hope this trick solve your problem. |

Try putting a drop of crazy glue prior to tightening the screw in the screw hole ... it might help keep it tight - caution: it may never come out even if you want it to come out. |

Na, crazy glue won't help. Use wood glue and fill the hole with a wood dowel. Any soft wood will do for the dowel. Just shape the wood dowel about the same size of the hole and tap it in gently. Let it dry, cut it flush to the cabinet with a razor knife, and drill a new small pilot hole for the screw. That will make it better than new. |

Nailed it with this one!! Exactly how it should be done just incase yourself or future home owner wishes to change them with ease. Thanks all ! I had considered the plan of sticking some wood int here, to get the screw to grip, but this particular one is a metal - on - metal type. It's the screw that actually allows the door to be aligned properly, not the actual hinge into the wood cabinet....I'm thinking super glue or gorilla glue..... I hate these hinges with a passion you can only imagine..... Pete |

Some Red Loctite and it will be there forever.... After you install it let it dry for a few hours before opening and closing the door. Only way to break it loose will be to use some heat. good luck |

Tried that....LoctTite-ed the heck out of it....two weeks later, back to the same loose screw.... |
