Are they concrete footings that go right into the ground or the little concrete pieces that sit on top of the ground? Did you construct the deck yourself?

Unless your deck is very high then at this point the town probably wont worry about the footings. If the deck has 3 steps or more then the steps require a proper hand rail and if the deck is 24" or more above grade then it will require proper rails. They are likely to enforce those issues.
