I've spotted 6 around the GTA in the past 2 weeks (including the one below).. Keep your eyes open for these magnificent birds.
We also have a Bald Eagle hanging around...

All around. Keep your eyes on farm fields as you drive. They love to ssit on the ground in the middle of the fields.

We went out for a drive yesterday to look for Snowy Owls, but no luck!

If you want to see one with out the drama of using your pet as bait
Go to Mountsburg conservation park
They have a bird sanctuary
They have viewing post placed in area's where the eagles and hawks nest

They also have many eagles hawks and owls in the rehabilitation area

Or you can just cruise along some of the sideroads, see so much more in their wild habitat, not in cages.

We've been to Mountsberg many times, and while it's a great educational facility, it doesn't beat seeing one in their natural habitat (and for those who are "birders", you only add a bird to your life list when seen in the wild).

Not sure if you guys took the natural trails in Mountsberge
Not all their birds are cages
They have observation platforms built so you can bird watch
I am not a bird watcher, just out on a day trip
These are some photo's i got last summer
Sorry not great photo's, taken with my phone
but there was a bird (an eagle I think) in the nest sitting with her babies
We could see movement in the nest but could make anything out
Didn't feel like staying long enough to see the bird leave the nest

You're right, I forgot about the Osprey nest at Mountsberg. We saw the pair of Ospreys in that nest on the platform this summer. Very cool birds!
The bird in the last pic you posted is a Turkey Vulture. Those birds are interesting to watch as they coast through the air. You can see them all over the area. I think that's why Halton Conservation chose the Turkey Vulture as part of their logo. Otherwise, not the prettiest bird around :)

My dog and I came across a decapitated rabbit in Lions Sports park over the weekend. Based on the evidence in the snow it was definitely killed by a bird. It left the body and head behind though so it may have been spooked off. I didn't have my phone on me so I went back yesterday and the rabbit/head were gone. I snapped a photo of a feather left behind. It was about 4-5" long. Gray with a pointed tip. The closest match I could find online was a juvenile female bald eagle. Link below. I could post the pic here but not sure how to.

Edit- apparently I don't know how to post links either.

That's several Km's away from our bald eagle, but still possible. Entirely possible and likely to be a snowy owl feather. There are also hundreds of hawks migrating through Milton right now.. Red tailed and rough legged hawks are huge and quite popular around town.
