This years ribfest was terrible, but I found this online so wonder if "new management" had some kind of falling out with the many ribbers who decided to noshow this year

http://www.insidehalton.com/whatson-sto ... n-ribfest/

Lots of people came but only 4 vendors (3 of them new from last year) so not anywhere near the choice we usually had

Went for a bike ride through the fairgrounds tonight and saw that there is a blooming onion place :) No line for the onions but very long lines for the ribs.

Only four rib venders showed up, cause the rest went to the Mississauga rib fest. They do have a few smaller vendors on the other side, but don't serve ribs.

The blooming onion was good.

How's the kid zone? Same old or different for better or worse.

And the beer jail. I mean what would happen if a couple of middle aged guys walked around with some 9$ coors lights.

Ontario can make any event un-fun.

Were you there this year?
I didn't have a brew but I thought I saw people wandering around with beer this year and I didn't notice a beer tent.

Any not-already-established food event not offering craft beer selections these days is doomed to fail.

We went last night very disappointed. Only 4 ribbers, only one I recognized from previous. 45 minutes to an hour line ups. $ 5.00 for warm beer and choice of beer Bud or Bud lite. We grabbed a beer walked around and then headed out to Memphis BBQ on Bronte. 2 racks of great ribs and 2 lbs wings with fries, beans , Caesar salad and coleslaw. 2 cold beers and great service. Total bill $100.00 for 4 of us including tip.
Unless there are major changes to Ribfest for next year I think this thing will die. Can't compete with Mississauga or Burlington.

I heard the guy who sold to ribfest to the new owners waited until the last second which left organizers scrambling for vendors.

Next year moght be better but if Bud/Bud Light are the only options then I'll just make ribs at home.

^^ That's not true. The new ownership is American and doesn't understand the Milton Market like the previous owner did who ran the event for many successful years.

There's a new take on the situation every day!

Bottom line is nobody thought this year's was good and it sounds like it was run by fools.

Kitchener also had their rib fest this weekend, if Mississauga and Milton also had one then I can see a shortage on Rib trucks happening. I like the idea of being able to walk around with a beer, that's a nice touch if they have securety to remove to silly people to drink to much at family events.

You know, those who attend 'adult only' events also like to have drunk people removed...
