Has anyone considered going to a non-apple place to get their screens repaired. Looks like apple charges $150 to get my screen replaced. :(

you might as well upgrade to a newer phone if you have an older version.

What terrible advice.

If you have an iPhone 5 I can all but guarantee the Apple store will replace it for free if you're nice enough to them. Worst case Ontario you pay like $100 or whatever it is. But you won't have to - I've had an iPhone 4 and 5 replaced au gratis by those fine people.

If you have a newer model then same thing applies - you might get lucky, but you can otherwise have it repaired for a nominal fee. It'll cost about the same as anywhere else you take it - but if you go to through Apple it'll probably be a totally new refurbished one instead.

Just don't go to the place in the mall. Wife took the iPad there and they did a pretty terrible job at the replacement.

Phone is working just the display is cracked.

Your suggesting then just go to apple store right?

Yep.

You might get lucky and have it fixed for free, especially if it's your first time. Worst case they want to charge you and you're in the same position as you are right now. It's worth a shot.

Apple store employee's actually have a lot of leeway in cases like this. Sometimes the difference between getting a free refurb vs. $$$ just depends on whether the person you speak to happens to be in a good mood that day.

We had my wife's screen iPhone 6 screen replaced at the place in H&R Block/Dairy Queen plaza (Laurier and Ontario I think it is). They did a great job for $100. However, I would absolutely do as Hodor suggested and try the Apple store first. You might get lucky. She needed a same day replacement so we didn't have time to try other options.

The cost savings using a "no name" provider and Apple is negligeable. I'd suggest going to a Apple as above.
