We have a really big coffee stain ,(yes our son knocked over a full coffee on our beige carpet :( )

We have tried cleaning it a few times with the Home Depot carpet cleaners.
I have heard that the industrial steam cleaners are the best.

I am looking for a professional carpet cleaning this time....any recommendations?

Thanks,
Lisa

Have you tried The Rug Doctor? You can rent it from an A & P. I've used it before and got stubborn stains out.

I second Milton Rotostatic. I recently had a bit of an emergency situation, and a messy one too. He came the same day and did a great job!

Thanks so much for your suggestions.
I have heard that the Rug doctor is good, but the stain has
been there awhile so I think I'll give Milton Rotostatic a try!

we have the Mattamy Beige too. My uncle dropped a glass of red wine on it 3 months into our new house. We poured about a litre of Club Soda onto it. Did not use carpet cleaner or a machine. 3 years later still cannot see any sign of a stain.
Moral of the story is to keep Club Soda around.

Good luck with your stain.
Matt

Actually we used Roto Static and we were thrilled with the results. It was approximately $175 for our upper level 4 bedroom house.Based on sq footage, but I forget what it is a $ a ft....
Our carpets looked great after and we sold our house after one day.Really made a difference having the entire carpets cleaned..not just the bad spots.
Rob at Roto Static was great to deal with as well!

Give him a try...

(Note: the post I was referring to has been removed for some reason...)

Please, but no-one should follow the advice above, not a word of it will permanently solve the problem! Sorry evenoddone, but in the case you describe, you will not be around in a few days, weeks, or a month to see the results of using such a poor product and technique on carpet.

Making a "Witch's Brew" of soluble soils & dyes, water and an over-marketed laundry-grade soap in your broadloom will eventually cause this problem to return, in spades. While the labels of these products do list carpet as a cleaning task, they are simply referring to the fact that the product (when properly diluted) should not harm the fibre or dye of the carpet's face yarns. They make no attempt to describe to the user how important it is to rinse the stuff out of your carpet, and to prevent saturation of the carpet backing and underpad. If left in your carpet in pools like descibed above, it will eventually cause a soap re-soil, and possibly a re-appearance of the original stain as well.

Also, at no time should these types of products be applied to any surface or fibre undiluted... "Sprinkle some dry oxy clean over the area..." The pH of OxyClean is quite high even in recommended dilution, and it may cause colour loss or damage if used undiluted. Remember - it is designed as a laundry additive, used in a solution of 20 - 30 L of water in your washer.
