why relatively newer house need caulking?

Because it’s 14 years old and mattamy is terrible? The old hard crap they use was cracked and splitting, allowing water to get in and who knows what else. Also a half-circle-faux-window thing was falling off (yay Mattamy again!) so that needed to be shimmed and caulked.!

So they had to be shimmed, how come not rimmed? Get the rim job performed next time.

Caulking isn’t sexy but it’s important.

They did a house across the street today as well - one of the upstairs windows had no caulking at all!

I was under the impression that your house was only 3 years old. It makes sense when the house is 10 years or older.
