This job is beyond my DIY threshold. Anyone know a good caulker who can clean out and fill my cracks?

I find the internet intimidating and don't know how to search.

I think you'll get a decent response. There's a few around here that I'm pretty sure are experts at giving a good caulking and filling your cracks. Just be ready to get bent over a little on price (damn contractors taking advantage of "new" Milton folk).

We used Vanguard caulking and were very happy with their service.

Yeah, be careful, the caulk hardens quickly once released.
Just go into Home Depot and ask for some high quality black caulk.
Don't smell it or you get caulknose.
Mr. Miyagi say caulk in, caulk out, caulk in, caulk out.

In fact, caulking is a trade, and the good ones do commercial buildings for obvious reasons. It's hard to find a caulker that does residential better than the average DIY.

Is this your idea, or did your wife suggest new caulk?

I'm with the above. Go with the black caulk. As they say, once you go black, you never go back.

It's actually something we've been considering together for a while now.

I think I have something lined up now. Hopefully more than one guy shows up so we can get filled from either side.

A wet finger is great for massaging your caulk into a tight crack.

Just to close this out, went with Gold Seal Caulking. Good guys, nice clean work, and they were a bit cheaper than any other quote I got. Same materials and workmanship.

Gold Seal is the Real Deal. For all your loose cracks.

Because it’s 14 years old and mattamy is terrible? The old hard crap they use was cracked and splitting, allowing water to get in and who knows what else. Also a half-circle-faux-window thing was falling off (yay Mattamy again!) so that needed to be shimmed and caulked. Dudes said they’ve done a lot of homes in the area. Caulking isn’t sexy but it’s important.

They did a house across the street today as well - one of the upstairs windows had no caulking at all!

And They Lived happily Ever After....the end

A good Caulk job will keep out the draft, the rain, the bugs, but best of all it will keep Hodor in.
