Not sure. I wanted to say silverfish, but this looks a bit different.

I've been getting some myself, but in the basement and garage, plus potato bugs. They lurk at night, and when you turn on the lights, they scramble and are fast. You gotta stomp on them quick.

Does anyone have a recommendation for someone local who treats the house so these things don't get in?

Don’t kill them you idiots - these guys are our friends.

Yes since posting I found out that they were house centipedes.

Ugly looking mofo's but they do get rid of the other bugs... they'll die out when the other bugs are gone as winter approaches.

It's a House Centipede, and consider yourself lucky, that's a baby....wait till you find the bigger ones.
Scared the crap out of me....my eye caught a glimpse of a big one and I swear I though it was a mouse. Moved a couple boxes and this bloody thing ran right past my feet.
They are quick as hell!

They're quick and they grow to 1.2 inches, which is pretty much how big this was.

There are still a lot of spiders in my house even with these creepers around. If I see, I kill. They don't get to live in my house rent-free, lol.

I do hate having kill them though because lots of bug juice is squished out, which makes for a yucky clean-up.

Last week, I saw a monstrous one on the side of my garage wall. Very creepy looking. Must of been 2-3 inches. This thing was huge ! It could of ate a rat if it wanted to.

Incorrect. You can google a silverfish to find out what those are.

These are house centipedes, which are non-destructive and actually will hunt and kill silverfish.

Of course, this is all according to the internet, I’m no entomologist. But I am a googlist.

Agreed - it's not a silver fish - doesn't look anything like it.
