Roofers do not need to access a roof to quote a job. A tape measure, knowledge of slopes, and a couple math calculations is all they need to do.

Tape measure...to measure width and depth of the structure, slope calculations including a height measurement. Did this random guy trespasses up a side yard to take these measurements, or did he pull it out of his sleeve from his truck on the street. One for every house on the street with a ratty roof?

I'm sure you wouldn't take this price seriously, neither would I and I think neither should OP. And I checked, my for-real roofer in 2012 offered 2 "free" sheets of ply included if necessary, and guess what none needed on our then 10 yo structure - go figure! No rebate offered or pursued.

Can't wait for Mr. Bond's first forays into plumbing, electrical, lighting, flooring, windows....

What really matters is Gitano Roofing's online presence.

Any roofer who has time to walk up and down streets looking for work is probably not worth hiring. ALL competent and even reasonably competent roofers are already swamped with calls.

The guy i booked is busy and responds. Hes already even been out to another friends place. I will post the outcome when my job is complete in case someone is looking like I was.

The install happened yesterday, we were waiting for warm weather to have the shingles not crack and bond well during the install. Had done some homework on optimal conditions for shingle install. Low tempretures would require special glue to hold well. Also low temps can result in many other issues.

Both sides got done. 7 guys started 7 am finished 8 pm.

Shingles installed GAF Timberline HD in Shakewood
Proper caps for shingles used
All new metal valleys
All new vents
3 ft Ice/Water barrier at all valleys edges etc
new vent pipe flashings
all nail heads etc caulcked
Gutters all cleaned (they were full of old roof bad.
Price included up to 2 pieces of plywood replaced on each home total 4 however all plywood was like new under the old shingles.
they cleaned up the properties very well.
they were very good pleasant workers.
cost was $4600.00 each plus HST total of $5198.00 each

A little more money than other quotes however using more expensive materials than those guys and 7 guys onsite (was suppose to be 8 one was off sick)

Company again was Nailed It Roofing and Construction.

ANd they nailed it. Im happy.

The main thing that made me go with these guys communication, when you call text or e-mail these guys they respond right away.

I like people that are easy to get a hold of.

I never seen so many houses with so many shingles lost after this yesterday wind. In our area and nearby (east from the area in the title)

Down to the plywood, too! I have several neighbors with 1-3 year old roofs who are now missing entire sheets of shingles. Sometimes you really get what you pay for.

Exposed to the wind roof slopes definitely took a hit yesterday. Most of the time the heavy architectural shingles are fine but the lower cost 3 tab shingles are more prone to blow off.

The good news is that if the roof survived yesterday then the roof will be good.

The bad news is that this wind also caused attic insulation to blow around in many homes attics. Not a good thing.
