Hello Guys,

Recently i have purchased Mattamy home comes with Gas fire place in Milton
Looking at the Architect options, its costs around $1800 to upgrade to Linear electric fire place.

Is it worth to upgrade? anyone has some images to see how it looks?

I dont want Mantel with the regular one and put my TV on top of that.

Any suggestions please?

Serious question; why would anyone want to change a gas fireplace to an electric one???

They can't make changes to mantel with gas version?

If you end up with the gas fireplace and plan to install a TV above it - then a mantle would be a good idea because it helps to deflect heat away from the bottom of the TV.

Seriously. Not only that, but an linear electric fireplace should be a downgrade not an upgrade (I'm sure it will be one of those cheap $3-400 Lowe's kind anyway).

Thanks a lot guys... i am a first buyer and i thought it would be a nice idea to upgrade fireplace to a linear one for modern look..

I dont like to keep tv on top of that because it creates neck problem for height wise...

May be i should keep the gas fire place and move tv somewhere

the decorative framework around the fireplace can be upgraded for few hundred. I did upgrade it. There is bit more expensive upgrade for a grand look and this will be from the top of the wall to the floor as well. If one prefers that kind of a look, then it is a worthy upgrade and also a great selling point for the house.
