Well apologies to GB but you know I called this in the back to school thread Not only does the HDSB & HCDSB NOT have a viable plan, they are now too confused apparently to interpret their own results (from yesterday at 4PM) and priorities to open properly and on time https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2020/0 ... -plan.html Majority of their "plan" is BS and they can not do half the things they were SUPPOSED to do months ago! Fix ventilation / old schools before opening Nope Smaller class sizes Nope Limited interaction between cohorts Nope Hire extra staff (on time) Nope Transportation (bus) issues Nope This is gonna be a s__t show and you read it here first Won't somebody please think of the children! *edit and if this is not crystal clear enough for everyone, it basically boils down to province laid out some very simple things to do, many boards (including both HDSB / HCDSB) would rather use money for teachers and unions than worrying about silly things like health & safety, even after province let them access additional reserve funding they still want more money. AND remember this is the same group who screamed murder when it was suggested a person with a FINANCE background should not be in charge of the school system funding and planning because they did not have a teaching degree. But yeah. Its confusing lol |

https://www.cp24.com/news/halton-school ... -1.5076748 Lots more gems from HDSB showing just how inept they are (many other boards, such as Hamilton-Wentworth, seem to have no issues making the required changes and opening plans are all rolled out with staggered back to school dates) "But in Halton, properly distancing all elementary classrooms would require 1,200 additional teachers, something the board's reserve funds could not even begin to cover." 1200 teachers??? WTF??? There only are 88 Elementary Schools in Halton Did all the teachers last year quit or refuse to work this year? "To retrofit a school with a partial air conditioning system has cost in excess of $1 million in the HDSB. Facilities staff has been working tirelessly during the summer months to upgrade and update these systems, and inference of lack of safety is not helpful." Sheer idiocy... each of those 88 schools require more than 1 MILLION dollars for air conditioning... Most of the guidelines I read from Ministry support things like open air (windows) and outdoor learning to limit Covid Schools are CLOSED in summer months so why do they need / want AC??? Grebenc also told Lecce the plan to revamp the math curriculum should be postponed until after the pandemic. "Overlaying this with new curricula (such as elementary math) complicates these processes and draws energy from where it is needed most." The math curriculum is already posted online and is really not that difficult to understand for those of us not in a union bargaining unit Also just for fun I went to a few schools today to look around Saw nothing of course I challenge any other parents to go to their local schools and look No signage, no arrows or restricted access No signs of renovations whatsoever (contrary to quote above about staff "tirelessly" working; I see tables with paperwork and books that have been left there since last year when schools were hastily abandoned) Nothing at all has been done and now expect teachers to start late (well home learning is already guaranteed late, but I am expecting even in class will not all start on day 1 either) Teach your own kids cause unions sure do not seem interested in doing so |

31 of the 88 HDSB schools are over capacity So basically nowhere near enough schools in Halton region and they want to INCREASE our population growth & density lol |
