Glass showers are bloody $$$ from Mattamy. Between 2.7K and 3.4K in most recent phases.

I've heard of people getting it quoted after-the-fact and it is more like 1.5-2K. Its an upgrade that we really wanted, but couldn't justify the $$. In our model (Wild Rose), the glass is on the front and half wall to the side (so you can look at someone going to the washroom). They have piped ours and so we couldn't glass the side unless we moved the plumbing but my wife isn't interested in the glass being on the side.

I've heard the company they use is called Mirror Interiors (around the block from the Decor centre). Suggest its not a bad idea to quote it out if its something you consider doing with Mattamy.

I agree with most of what Devious has said. We actually had Mirror Interiors in to quote us on a shower door in our old house and we had it installed through them. In our new house which closes soon we are going with Koski Glass on Main Street for the shower door and they are fairly reasonable and it will be installed a few days after closing. They came out to do the measurements a few weeks ago while the house was still under construction- no problems at all.

You'll find many things are not in the booklet. I found this part pretty frustrating as I felt it was up to the whim of the consultant to advise us of what options you had. I would prefer getting every option listed so I could see everything possible, but maybe thats just me. I know for our soaker tube: these were some of the options.

Master bdr ens soaker tub as indicated on floor plan 72”
Upgrade to whirl pool $ 1,622.00;
Upgrade to jet air $ 3,226.00
Additional handheld shower $ 763.00

Hey,
Christine- The option for the glass shower is missing from our book too. There are a few items that are (shower seat, upgraded bath faucet etc. ). We know these options are available for the Juneberry because we have seen them in other Juneberry homes.

Yeah, it kinda annoying. We were looking to add the garden door to our laundry room, but it is not listed. The glass shower is also not listed.

On another note, it looks like the snow is coming which will probably slow down or stop any other construction on our street. I hope not.. :x

I was driving in the area and noticed on Wettlaufer Terrace that people are moving in to unfinished houses. I understand moving in to minor things not being completed, but some houses had no railings in stairs at entrances, I saw a Red Cedar with an unfinished balcony witha red ribbon on it. Is this acceptable? I'm surprise people would move in with the houses so unfinished...

Andrea and Angelo, congrats on the little girl!

After lenghty consideration last weekend, we've decided to change our model from Sycamore to Upland (Elv. A)!
The two models are actually very similar, but we (Cornelia :)) thought Sycamore's master ensuite is too small; plus, Upland has a look over (with railings) to foyer/dining room from the great room, bow windows in family room and master bedroom, double-door entrance, bigger deck and a good size ensuite. On the downside, we'd have to live with the laundry room on the main floor.
Mattamy was very helpful and confirmed the change yesterday - we'll go and sign the amendment this Saturday. And of course, we're looking forward to get our hands on the upgrades booklet!...for Upland :)

Contact Mattamy Decor centre and make sure they have the Upland, elevation A book ready for you. We went to pick up our upgrade book and they gave us a Spicebush, elevation A. We had switched to the elevation B and they have not upgraded their records. I'm gonna contact the sales office about this as well. I wouldn't want them to pour the foundation for elevation A... :?

I know our current house was 'closed' without railings on our balcony and front stoop. I've heard at times this can take weeks or months. I would have no problem moving in with this state because there is an warranty, and more importantly, that is stuff they can complete without accessing the inside of the house. They probably delay it to make sure they can get the contractor involved to do all at the same time.

Looks like they have changed suppliers. Its interesting to look at the upgrade sheets of houses when they are pasted up in the house while its being built. It gives you insight of how they break down each upgrade and what contractors are involved.

For a friends' shower door, they list:
ELEC RegalElec
HVAC CoulsonH
PLUMB MarliMec
RCARP PGAContr
SHWDR JJHomePr
Tile NorthYor

Quick google search would tell me the shower door came from JJ Home Products in Brampton.

So it was incomplete like that would it be delayed? I understand minor items, but for me I would feel uncomfortable with an incomplete balcony or front stair case and such. I guess in my situation were I have no pressure to move in right away, I'd feel more comfortable if the house was 98-99% complete and would hold off moving in until the hosue was complete.

This is totally acceptable, no railing is no big thing they lock the door to the balcony so you and your children can not access it. It's normal many house's are closed like this.
I once purchase from a very small builder and my neighbor closed with no kitchen cabinets  all they had was a kitchen sink build in a 2x4 stand. They had 2 kids and no kitchen for 3 weeks! Ontario law is as long as they have 1 sink with running water the builder can close the home. You have to take it. Thank god Mattamy does practice this type of business.

We just picked up our updated upgrade book today. I know for sure we are doing the stairs and tiles. After that its a crap shoot...

Went by the site today, the lots are all marked off and the driveway water valves are installed right now and alot of the sewage and fire hydrants are installed.

Like everyone else, we've also been busy going through the design guide and putting together our list of upgrades. We actually spent 5 hours at the design centre yesterday where we ran into many Coombsters incl. Sal, Christine, Isabella, Sylvain, Cornelia, Samreen, Angelo & Andrea). It was like one big party:) We could not leave b/c we would end up chatting with someone new!

For us, the majority of our upgrades are happening in the kitchen, hardwood stairs, french doors, frameless glass shower doors, and all the other miscelleanous items that need to get done. We don't think we will upgrade the tiles or carpet (will install hardwood later)….however if we don't find a tile we like, then we may need to bump up a level. I agree that its all adding up very quickly. The scary thing is that there will be other upgrades offered with the consultant that are not in the book (ie. wine rack for kitchen island, frosted glass decorative front door, higher end faucets etc). Alex may need to start moonlighting soon to pay for all this:)

We also went by the Frendel showroom today and got a better idea of the cabinets we want. They have about 6 kitchens on display, which was a bit helpful to see the finished product.

Have a great week everyone!

We finally made our way to the Design centre and was nice seeing Diana Alex and Sal and Christine. I wish we could have stayed more :)

Our challenge is finding the time to go through the book and actually going to the Desing Centre to look at samples :( . I was told that we will get our appointment about six months before the closing date. Anyone else know anything different than that?

Anyway, we have a lot to think about... I would like to go the Frendel showroom, sounds like a good idea, thanks!

marquis:

This should give you an idea of the 'schedule'

http://www.ialex.net/misc/house/Product ... meline.pdf

Shaping the Interior is also called your 'Structural Appointment'
Bring the Interior to Life is also called your 'Colours Appointment'
