AlliJas - Yay for your October closing! How exciting! And a baby soon!
#1> sending you a PM now.
Dilex> Good luck on your framewalk! We didn't notice alot on our framewalk - but thought of things afterward. We call Joe every couple of days, it seem! If you have a mirror image house, check the positioning of your washer/dryer.

Anyone know of great deals on appliances? We haven't got ours. Still haven't even decided on which ones we want. Recommendations on appliances and where to go are welcome!
Anyone still need to get their appliances? We could go in and put pressure on them to give us a great deal if we were buying even more!

Has anyone here had any problems with the security on our street? We went by to check the house tonight and the security guard was very unprofessional, rude and lied to us. I won't go into details right now, but I'm curious to see people's feedback on them.

Your security gaurd would'nt let me go in the Intracorp site. As I got out of my car, all you see is a man running towards me saying SO MANY THINGS AT ONCE. I told him I am not going to the Mattamy site I am going to the Intracorp site. And yet he was still not trusting me in anyway. I had to argue with him for 5 minutes untill he said "ok" for me to go. And yet he was staring at me the whole time when I was finding my Stake.

I have know clue why he was not trusting me to go into the Intracorp site. I wont go into the backyards of Mattamy..........

Ya I have gone by only lately (since they just started constructing my home), I have had no issues either. However, I will be going by this weekend just to look, but apparently that may be out of the question. Will let you know if anything happens.

p.s. - If there has been a sudden shift in attitude, I feel the pressure may be coming from Mattamy/Security Group superiors. Just something to keep in mind.

We have only recently had difficulty with security. We have been going regularly but just over a week ago, he stopped us told us we couldn't go, told us the doors were all locked and was really insistent. Oliver didn't let up and eventually he told Oliver that the garage door was unlocked but to hurry up.
Another time, in the evening, he told him that he couldn't be there after 5 or 6 or something. It's been really frustrating.
We've gone by in the days a bunch and the workers in our house don't seem to care if we stay out of their way.

Hi everyone,
I was reviewing the 1st post (great information by the way) and came upon some new items and had a question for tip #12.

12. Make sure Mattamy is installing 3-1/4 bullnose at the bottom of the railing/top of the steps. Important if your doing hardwood in the future.

I am hoping someone can provide some insight...
- Does this apply to only oak and maple stair cases?
- Has there been an instance where Mattamy did not install this?
- Is there a PICTURE that we can ALL see of how the bull nose looks like?

Thanks in advance!

You mean 3/4" nosing

Nosings need to be installed no matter what species of wood the stairs are. From all the installations we have done, Mattamy does install nosings around stairs. We have noticed in few houses, where there is a step down to laundry etc., they did not install anything, just wrapped it with carpet. In such case, the hardwood installer will install a matching nosing when doing the hardwood floors. So not to worry.

Here is a pic of a stair nosing:

Hope this helps :)

Hey Total I went by the site last night and had no issue with the security guard. He was actually more friendly than my last encounters with him. Maybe he was told to lighten up.

hmmm Good to know, GNAD. Have they started your house yet?
How's my house looking? I'm going to have to go by there this weekend. I've not wanted to bother due to the Fort Knox guards...... I think it might be just a tad muddy there today so I'll give it a day or two.

I spoke a VP at Mattamy head office today that was not too impressed by our encounter with security. He told me he will speaking with the owner of the security company and apologized with what happened. He also told me that he has received complaints from other homeowers at the HVE regarding security, so maybe it was the same person. I understand that they have a job to do, but they have to be a little more professional in the way they treat people. I don't really want to go into what happened with us, but hopefully they will resolve it.

Hey Neighbour,

they started our house....both floors are up...wood frame
your house they started to do the sub flooring on the main level. I can only assume they have made some further progress since Tuesday (which is when I visited).

Regards,
Sunny & Geeta
