Put me down for a keypad as well.

Thanks Dean

I'm also good with the EMT route or paypal if you prefer. I don't expect Dean to front the money and it works really well. We all know where he plans to live.. muahaha

Well, #1, there really won't be much lawn left once you put in the community ice rink, pool and tennis courts so it might not be a bad deal.
I'm sure Olly won't mind installing it....just thought you were offering full service GDO.

I wanted to get the home inspection done too. I think Andy Shaw offers a group rate for multiple homes on a street.

LOL! I swear I was just looking at his forum 'Why get an ordinary Tarion Warranty Insepction' that Andy had created.

I am good for this as well, and I have asked him to PM me, I will pass on this information to all of you folks, and perhaps I can inquire on the group discount part as well

A bit off topic from the GDO's but is anyone planning on using a home inspector for their PDI and 30 day inspection? Being a homeowner newbie makes me paranoid that I'll miss something lol.Rob

I'm going to use the following person who did the 30day to my friend's Mattamy on Jelinik (Vista area):

Carole DeBarry (Certified Home Inspector - NACHI)
New Home Inc - Inspections & Consultants
Your Specialist in Tarion warranty Inspections
Phone: 416 577-6960
Email: cdebarry@sympatico.ca, cdebarry@newhomeii.com

Apparently, she's already advertised on this blog, and comes highly recommended.

It seems a good garage door opener but our only concern is the
dealer in Toronto or USA. In case something is wrong
with the product can I trust them with a lifetime warranty,
considering the misleading info on their website about 550 - equals 3/4
instead of 1/2 HP which is important for a one double garage door.

They have warehouses in USA, Germany and Canada, specifically Markham. My contact told me about the error on the site. I'm working on more of a discount because the order has gotten so large, but no guarantees on more discount.

BTW - everyone that is in on the order, who needs installation of the openers?

Just FYI, and I'm certainly not recommending you choose someone else. She may be a great inspector but there is certainly history between Carole and Mattamy that some people would see as a benefit, and others would see as a negative. It seems Mattamy has a hate on for her and banned home inspectors from the PDI due to her company (they later changed it that home inspectors have to sign a contract with them) -- I believe in a prior employment Carole did the PDI inspections working for Mattamy

Hey Dean- we don't need installation, thanks!

I have read so many good things about Andy Shaw (home inspector)

Sunny&Geeta- when you hear about the group rate, we would
be interested. Let me know what he says if you don't mind :)

Thanks
Andrea

will do! I also emailed him as well, hopefully he responds soon!

Since i will be moving in Jan 2011 - I have a million things to do during that time besides the new home.....I could probably use the help.

How much is installation if you don't mind me asking?

So more good news from Mattamy. They installed our hose bib wrong. We had it relocated to the front and they installed it in the back...

They also screwed up our stair case. They have 2 pickets installed improperly. I'll have to take a picture, but bascially the pickets curve right into the middle of the staircase. Not to mention they installed SILVER rail supports that no way match our BLACK pickets...

I wonder if they just hire any person for minimum wage to do the work on our homes...

WTF! Wow, you are seriously getting some bad luck. I guess this is an eye opener for everyone!

Dean, if you don't mind, when you get those pictures do you mind posting them? That way everyone in here knows what to look for when inspecting their homes.

good luck, give Mattamy a piece of your mind!
