We relocated our hose bib to the front as well, need to check to make sure it was done! Thanks for the reminder Dean!

Mattamy missed installing the posts and railings in our little step down area leading to the basement! huge safety issue, especially with a little one. Talked to Shane and Andrew today and they admitted that it is a miss on their end; framers need to come back to fix this in our house and lot 34, otherwise it won't pass safety.

btw, security is very nice to us these days. they unlock the door in the evenings for us since its hard getting out during the day.

FYI everyone - I got an email from Andy Shaw and he does not offer group rates.

He also said that he won't do a PDI inspection due to the hassle that Mattamy is notorious for. However, he would do an inspection prior to your 30 day warranty.

He says the pricing is available on his website, you have to go there and input certain data such as sq ft of home etc....

Hey Dean - after we ran into you last week, we got in touch with Mattamy about the hose bib and apparently they have changed plumbing contractors, so that is the reason for the screw up and we are now going to get an extra one in our garage at the front....I would let them know next time your talking to them. Our PDI is next week and they were fixing the hose bib yesterday, so pretty quick response.

Thats good to know. I was telling my wife I wouldn't a mine a second hose bib. I guess its a bonus if they put a second one in.

Do you mine looking into the person Jdub & Devious recommended, Carole Debarry? Were not looking for a free inspection. But if were offering a lot of business to someone, I'm sure we would all appreciate a discount.

Cogeco & Bell offers 3 months free for Mattamy new home owners. Anyone have any other recommendations...I was gonna call to setup an install date.

Cogeco is pretty good. I wouldn't go with Bell again even if it was free for years. Their customer service is terrible. Even if you cancel their service you will continue to get bills sent to your house. That's only if you manage to get a person there to set up in the first place.

I agree!

So I went by the warehouse today to try and get us a larger discount but was unable to. Anyhow, I observed the unit live in action and it was pretty sweet. Super quiet and easy to setup.

Personally, I don`t think you guys need to get anyone to set it up, but he told me installation would be $100 tax included. I think Greg from Phand.ca charges $125 for install.

I'll go with Bell. I checked online, Fibe Internet is available on our street. Fibe TV will probably be offered soon, as our houses are already wired to fiber optic. Internet and TV via optical fibre is the latest technology - highest speeds, best TV quality.
I've never dealt with Bell before, and from what I'm hearing, it looks like they don't have a great reputation...Hopefully that has changed.

Ummm, you do realize that Bell Fibe is not fibre optic to your house right? It's typical Bell marketing crap. They do run Fibre to the local node (big deal) but the last mile to your house is copper. Check your phone line demarc in the basement. Copper.

One day we will get true optical to our houses, but I'm not holding my breath waiting for Bell to come out with useful technology (or Cogeco or Rogers or anybody else with no direct competition for that matter).

Having said that, I am curious by what you mean by "our houses are already wired to fiber optic"? I wasn't aware of that upgrade.

Actually, all Fall 2010 new housing developments in Quebec and Ontario are getting FTTH (Fibre To The House). That's what I meant when I said our houses are wired to fibre optic: the fibre runs all the way to the house, not to the node.

HI EVERYONE!!! I GOT A RESPONSE from Carole (Home Inspection)

Here is her response, she will contact me after the long weekend to discuss proper rates, I guess the question I have is who is interested in such services? That way I can give her the quantities and she can then rate them.

Also when responding, indicate your closing date.

Regards,
Sunny & Geeta

p.s. (See her email response below)

Hi Sandeep Grewal,

Many thanks for your email expressing your interest in a group Tarion 30 Day Inspection for your street and New Mattamy home in Milton site on Coombs Court
I am very interested in the concept of a large group discount for yourself and future neighbours.

As you might already know I presently have in place a Group Discount offer for 2 or more houses, and would be willing to review and fine tune to
accommodate on a larger scale. I feel this could be a very profitable move on many levels where a larger group can benefit from a professional inspection
done to their investment at a very reasonable cost.

I would like to contact you again right after the long week end to further investigate the possibility of this event.
Please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns. Have yourself a Wonderful long week end!

Looking forward to being in touch with you again in the very near future.

Warmest Regards.

Carole D DeBarry
Certified Home Inspector (NACHI)

I was looking into this as well back in August, unfortunately at that time Bell could not respond to let me know if we did have the Fibe to the home happening on our street.

I too was interested in the Fibe Internet (yes, its a marketing ploy) but if the Fibe to the home initiative is true, it definitely is worth a look.

Regards,
Sunny

I would be interested in the 30 day and 1 year inspection.

In terms of the GDO group buy, I guess I will start collecting the money. How do you suggest we do this?

Also, I went by the house today, all our cabinets are installed. Laundry room sink also installed. Looks like there is no delay on the cabinets, because I heard there was a delay...
