As for Bell, I have had more then a few bad experiences with them. I honestly wouldn't go with them if they offered me free service for a year! Their customer service is terrible.... Just my opinion. I have cogeco now and I have never had any issues. In fact the customer service is excellent. I called them today and it was confirmed that my services will be free for the first 3 months.

Our PDI is in about 2 weeks... So exciting!

Hey totalpkg - I care more about performance as well.

A&A, thanks for the advice, I guess I am on the opposite end of the spectrum...I've have good service from Bell over the years.

Would you happen to have that number/name by any chance? I remember when I went by the site, I saw the hangar on someone's door, I should've wrote it down then....

I'm interested in the Bell offer as well - whoever gets the number, please post here.
As for the vacuum, I also care about performance first.

Hey Sunny&Geeta- I don't have the number on me. We haven't been by the site in a few days. We are lot 6, why don't you take the notice off of our door, we don't need it. Good luck!

Thanks A&A, I got the info right here:

Rosenda - Bell Rep
1866-360-7566 or 647 262 1507
Promo is only available through this rep

Promo is 12 months free home phone when you bundle Home Phone and Internet.

Also, TV and Internet free for 3 months.
It also says free TMN for 3 months.

Apparently, for all this to work I believe you have to get all 3 services on contract. I suppose if you require more information you can call Rosenda just to confirm.

Regards,
Sunny&Geeta

I'm gonna contact Cogeco to see if they are willing to match this.

Keep in mind, that Bell requires you to sign a contract for the services, Cogeco is right now offering free for 3 months, no contract.

We are with you, A&A - way back when we had Bell, we had such awful customer service and had constant internet issues. Since we've been with Cogeco, things have been great - minor issues but Customer service has resolved them well.

Sunny&geeta, A&A thanks for the Bell promo info. I'll call the contact tomorrow and sign up for TV and internet.
We've been with Rogers in Toronto for 8 years and with Cogeco for the last 1 month in Milton. We are very dissapointed with Cogeco's TV quality: HD picture is really no match to Rogers', there is a 1/2 second sound delay on most channels, the cable box doesn't even have an HDMI port (it looks like an old VCR). Internet is fine though, but I cancelled both services last week.
We've never dealt with Bell before, but it looks like most complaints are about CS, not on quality of their services, so we'll give it a try.

Ok, I signed up with Bell for TV and Internet, 2 yr contract. I didn't get the 3 months free, because there is a better offer out there: free HD PVR for 2 years, which is a savings of $480, so I got that instead. The two promos can't be combined. Another thing to consider, Bell offers free installation, while Cogeco charges about $70.

I'm sticking with Cogeco. I bought two PVR with HDMI off ebay for half the price they charge and they work great and HD looks great. I also have my home phone and internet with them and never have any issues. Setup is a snap no need to call them once you have the modem.

FYI.. My brother just moved into a Condo and he ordered Bell because of all their great advertising but he was quick to learn that the customer service has not changed at all. I would be surprised if they install on the date they say they will. For him nobody showed up on his install date and when he called them nobody had a clue. When somebody did finally show up a couple of days later they only installed phone line and had to come back for the internet and Satellite.

GNAD, did you buy the Cogeco cable box on ebay? I remember I once asked Rogers if they would authorize a different box and they said no, only a Rogers branded box.

As for Bell, I guess I'll have to learn the hard way about their customer service :) I'll post here my experience with them.

2 things

1> Cogeco does not charge for install. As part of the free 'new home builder package' you will get free internet, phone, tv for 3 months no contract, no install cost. They will (or they did for me) terminate all of my phone and cable jacks (they don't touch cat5, they have no skillz or tools)

2> Cogeco supports 3rd party receivers, but of course, buying on ebay can be risky (perhaps the unit is defective). I've bought 2 and I've had one for like 4 years and one for 3 years (bought for like 300 and 250 respectively), so I saved big bucks now vs renting.

Just search ebay for motorola 6412 and 6416 (120 gig and 160 gig models respectively). No idea how/if they support 3rd party pace boxes, but I'll keep my motorolas until they keel over.

Cogeco TV HD-wise kinda sucks. I dropped their phone service because my 22 after taxes from Vonage does the trick, and the 30 meg service for intarweb is awesome.

Not as cheap as you can probably get it if you buy from ebay.com and then get it shipped to a Amerifriend/US shipping location, but for $250ish you'll be all in (potentially some duty but the guy is sending USPS so at least not the redic UPS brokerage fees)

http://cgi.ebay.ca/MOTOROLA-HD-PVR-DCT6 ... 19c086b524

(Never dealt with this guy, but its the 160gig unit, and its got the HDMI output.)

Its 499 to buy via Cogeco. But you do get a warranty that way.

They charged us $70 for installation in the rental house we're in now (I'm still pissed about that), but if they waive it as part of the package, then it's fine.

I'm not sure if I should say then....
I'm pretty sure it was waived. Oliver did all the calling- he may have pushed it and got them to waive it- he is a master negotiator. I'll ask him tonight.
