Hi all,

I noticed something while driving to the construction site last week. It was raining and some houses were half framed and under construction. My question or concern would be: wouldn't moisture/ rain rotten the wood frame ? Kinna makes us worry lol

Second question : Is there a possibility to ask if you can get a closer closing date then what they stated on your purchase of sale ? I mean there is always a possibility that they can finish a lot faster than they anticipated .

In this climate, you can never build a house and keep it away from the moisture. The wood may get wet, but I don't think the moisture will stay long enough to the point of rotting the wood. When the sun comes out it'll dry quickly.

As for moving the date forward, you can ask but don't expect anything. They are already running behind on some houses. I would assume finishing early would be difficult for them.

That's true but still it makes you worry when you see the wood frame soaked wet. Let's hope for best I guess.

As for earlier close date I will email my customer care and ask.

One more question to add: can we have access to the temporary mail box prior to moving? Say two months before the actual close date?

you do not get the keys for the mailbox from Mattamy. You have to go to the local Canada Post station to collect the mails initially.

Mattamy or any other builder does not have anything to do with the mail boxes.

You will not have access to a mailbox prior to closing as you need your CCP form in order to pick up the key at the post office and you don't get that till the PDI.

Meld,

Ask your customer care to let you know if the house is complete before your closing date. At times some lots finishes and ready to move in a week before your closing date.

Highlu unlikely you will be ready before closing. Everything is timed with all the other homes in the area, and getting delayed is more normal than being able to close early.
