Did anyone experience having sharp tacks under your carpets when it transitions to hardwood or tile? How are you fixing it?

All in all it went fairly well. There was a lot of minimal issues, little scratches in walls and on door frames, uneven caulking, cabinet doors not perfectly aligned etc. According to the PDI rep because they have the handyman make all those fixes they don't put it on the PDI list. I did not question it at first but later regretted not insisting it all go on the list because I found later not all items were fixed or fixed well. Did not notice until after the close.

Woah... woah woah.. they didn't let you put the deficiencies on the PDI list?! Isn't that what it is all about? I'm pretty sure the Tarion guidelines states scratches, gouges, holes etc. are imperfections to work and should be included in the PDI.

Can anyone else chime in here? Sounds to me that you were taken advantage of...

We were given the same message during our PDI... ensure that all upgrades ordered are present, check for major deficiencies, and learn about the overall working of your home (ex: HRV system). As we went through the house, other small deficiencies were noted with painter's tape, but not on the PDI form. This made us a bit weary too, but we were told that these items are better noted on the 30 day warranty form. I think it's also important to note that our PDI was only 2 days before closing, so there was little time to fix all of the paint issues and whatnot. A handyman was present during the PDI to do noticeable touch-ups as we pointed them out.

I have to really give it Mattamy, they are following through with what they said about the 30 day list (and we were skeptical!). We have since had 2 follow-up appointments to address items on our 30 day list. Yesterday was our second appt, which included several trades to fix things such as our fireplace, broken window, hose bib. We are impressed that Mattamy coordinated the trades to come on the same day, alleviating us from taking extra days off. None of our items have been challenged, and the warranty guys have actually pointed out additional deficiencies that we didn't see. After each appt, the warranty secretary has called to follow-up and book the next appt. She has commented that we are patient people. It sounds like she gets yelled at a lot... :| Overall, we are impressed with the post-closing service. No, I don't work for Mattamy. I know people are quick to jump down their throats, however sometimes being nice and having some patience pays off... I've never been a believer in the "squeaky wheel" thing.

I have the same experience so far. I am past my PDI date and any major issue I emailed Mattamy about gets addressed within 1-2 days. I did not have to list all the small dings and they took care of all I identified during the PDI.

I have nothing but good things to say about the process. I wouldn't worry too much about missing a thing or two at the PDI. You don't really notice a lot of things till you live in the space like creaks and sticky doors. Everything on my 30 day list was addressed. John, our rep, was so nice and always went over and above to check out our concerns. I think the items are all addressed now. The final check will be our one year. I'll get an inspection for that one. But I'm confident that mattamy will continue to provide excellent service.

PS...they're not Ikea quality homes. I love my house. But I shop at Ikea so maybe I'm easy to please

I second this.... we are pretty happy with our purchase and mattamy's customer service ... I wonder why so much hate is going around?
Mattamy even fixed for us something that was not their fault ... it was totally on our part and void our warranty, they still helped us.
We are buying with mattamy for the third time. I understand things go wrong and sometimes it's not fair for people suffering, but all that comes in the package, no?

As for minor cracks and scratches , they just made a note on the inspection that overall touch ups are needed. I put a green sticker everywhere I needed touch ups and everything was fixed. Pretty satisfied with our builder and purchase. Hope this helps clear out confusion for a lot of people who are first time buyers.

Yes I agree with you "aaaa". We had warranty appt this week. They even pointed by themselves which we didn't list it. They agreed to fix it. Actually, we were not aware of these things. Whatever we pointed out, they are doing one by one.
