Milton will likely get a second school trustee this time around on the HDSB. So we need people in the community to run!

Donna puts in about 25-30 hours a week, so you can use that as an example of the work involved. The pay is about $13,000 per year. The work you can do for the schools and students is basically it's own reward, not the money (obviously, at $13k and almost 1350 hrs per year, your basically getting paid a couple bucks above minimum wage).

I really hope we'll get multiple candidates in Milton who are going to be fair and focused on helping our schools. The number of schools in Milton has been growing fairly fast. Milton needs a second trustee to help with the increased workload.

As an educator, I'd be VERY interested in the job....one day! I've got a 4 year old and still think I'm a little young and inexperienced still. Sounds like a very rewarding job though!

well, you asked, I responded. My name is Brian Hawley and I am running for public school trustee in the upcoming election. I have over 20 years of business experience in several fields, including budgeting so the 10% or so of the provincial budget, which is so critical to properly allocate, will receive my full and complete attention. Furthermore, my parents were in the education industry for a combined 70 years as principal and primary consultant so I am drawing on their experiences in meetings with trustees over that time. I have been in contact with Donna Danielli, the current trustee and I shall continue to keep an open relationship with her to draw on her experience as well. The people of Milton have received me, a transplanted Miltonian of 5 years, with open arms and I feel it is my duty to start giving back to the community that have supported my family for so long. I hope to serve the parents of Milton and aid where I can in protecting that which is more valuable than any other asset- the youth of our community.
