The contractor has requested that the closure of Fourth Line between Beaty Trail and Menefy Place be extended until December 24, 2011. MTE Consultants Inc. has been completing road improvements which include the installation of a culvert and the contractor has run into some extensive ground water which has delayed the completion of the work. The original completion date for this road work was November 25, 2011.

UPDATED
MTE Consultants Inc. has requested that the closure of Fourth Line between Beaty Trail and Menefy Place be extended until January 30, 2012.

The following is a synopsis of the issues that have taken place related to this project which has resulted in construction delays and thus the need for the extension of the road closure.

• Unusual soils conditions and dewater requirements have delayed the installation of the footings for the structure.
• Heavy rainfall events have cost the contractor over a week in down time.
• A 6” gas main was broken during excavation.
• There was a breakdown of the onsite crane used for the culvert installation.

Well good news and bad news.
The Good news is the contractor (who's bill the developers are paying) is confident they will be finished by the 3rd week of Feb.
The Bad news is the contractor will not be finished till the 3rd week of Feb.
At this point what else can be said except their bad luck continues and the local residents continue to be inconvenienced.
Mike and I will keep you updated.
:(

FEB 24 is the day 4th Line will reopen according to the contractor as of today!
The pavement will be rough, and they will come back in the spring and repave...its a one day job (they say).
