I live in the North Star development (Derry and Bronte) and my neighbours and I are curious why the builder (to the best of our knowledge) is not required to build a children's play area/ park.

We noticed Mattamy has children's play areas throughout its developments in Milton, but for whatever reason, our builder seems to have gotten away with building a couple of hundred homes with no requirement to provide an area for children.

Is there anyone with more knowledge on this issue that can provide insight?

Thank you.

Hi Czthemmnt

All builders are required to contribute to a parks dedication fund as part of their development whether there is a neighbourhood park within their development or not. Check out the attached site plan for the three phases of your neighbourhood.

There are several neighbourhood parks planned in the area including one south of the Union Gas trail as part of the Mattamy phase to serve both areas, as well as the new Sunny Mount park off Ruhl Drive which is under construction at present. (check the open space areas on the maps at the end of the report)

You can also check the other applications in your neighbourhood on the attached development and phasing plan maps.
