Given the sad state of our roads, ballooning staff at the town hall, higher than inflation municipal property tax increases, and having round abouts where you can't use the round about when there is a truck attempting to traverse the turn, it's time for change. The Mayor and current councilors need a rest from their positions--at least 4 years.

The Mayor and councilors have no or little control over your complaints. So you think a bunch of newbies will have any effect. Some candidates are already promising to do the impossible just to get your vote.

Why doesn't the Mayor and current Councillors have control over complaints? Who is governing the town--our elected officials or town staff? We can't do worse than what we have now. if we elect an entirely new Mayor and Council. It's time for change!

What a crock of sh*t. So who are you Joan? Explain yourself a little please.

In our "Feelings Over Facts" political climate - worldwide over that past 5 or so years which has resulted in some of the biggest mistakes ever to occur under the guise of democracy - I'm afraid you may get your little wish Joan, churn for the sake of churn. Have you been watching the televised debates on Cogego TV? Some of these "new" candidates are a complete joke verging on a prank (poor Colin), but the ones to really worry about are the "new" ones who can just dogwhistle their way into the hearts of voters just by using passable vernacular speech and just the right buzzy words. Our worst example of failure is a neck-and-neck race between T2 and Fordsie. We will live to regret those choices, and if we don't learn how they happened and how to avoid them in future, we are well and truly screwed.

Also, important to recognize that with the Brothers Ford we have now officially erased any doubts that partisan Provincial and Federal politics are alive and well at the municipal level. It was non-existent at one time, and then was arguable for a while, but now it's official. You can now with ease spot the (fiscal) Conservatives from the Liberals from the Socialists. It boils down to "what does a place like Milton actually need?" Some of the claptrap coming out of these candidates is beyond laughable ("Stop CN Intermodal!", "Start Milton University!"), and there are clear limits to the influence any of them can have, including Mayors and the Regional Chair. Some seriously cringeworthy moments in those debates, especially the Milton Mayor's debate.

I see sh*t is now f*** as well Thanks Hodor!!!

I agree with you about the higher than inflation property taxes and the crappy town streets full of potholes.

We still have the second lowest tax rate in the Province according to Krantz. Only Toronto is lower but they don't like to pay for any of their own stuff.

We have the fastest growing community with a huge growth in the tax base, yet our tax increases are consistently above inflation. The Town Staff have stated that growth is not paying for itself. Where is the money going from the increased tax base? Does it have anything to do with the fact that during the first 5 years of growth, Milton Council approved the lowest development charges---millions of dollars lost and infrastructure which should have been built was not. Does it have anything to do with a Mayor and Council that don't know what they are approving at Council? It's time for change!

Growth never pays for itself
Short term gains and long term losses

Our taxes are cheap anyways
Land value here is way less than neighbour cities (oh plus coming deline lol)
And our percentage in taxes is better than many of neighbouring cities
