Has anyone had any experience with Sharon? We are supposed to have our Design center appointment sometime this month.

Design appointment booked for December 1st with Colette.

Any advice?or recommendations? We pretty much have everything picked out. It's all the little things that keep coming up.

Thanks in advance.

If there is any knee walls, take those out.

We will definitely be removing the knee wall. Just trying to figure out if we should do wood pickets or wrought iron pickets. I love the wrought Iron but the cost is crazy!!

We learned a bit from our first house when choosing design upgrades for our new house. We spent a little more money on this one because we're hoping for it to be our "forever home" For both homes, we spent a lot of time deliberating finishes (tiles, hardwood, cabinets). But something we could have spent more time thinking about was placement of cable outlets, phone jacks, electrical.. They have recommended places, but you can relocate some things (for no extra charge).

In our first home we went with placement as suggested. But we realized when we moved in that we probably should not have got the dining room light in the middle of the room. In our layout there's a hallway going through the left side of our dining room, so the dining room table isn't exactly in the middle of the space. For our new house, which has a similar layout, we chose to move the dining room light a little more to the right so it will actually sit in the center of our dining table. We also got both the lights in the kitchen moved to above the island for no cost. After close we will install pendant lights - this is much more cost-efficient than getting the rough-in for pendant lights over the island (think it was $400?).

Our budget was 5K of our own money (on top of the incentives). We spent the money on:
- Smooth ceiling on main floor
- Install same hardwood in Front Entrance and Kitchen
- Install same hardwood in Upstairs Hall
- Install "Carrara" style doors in whole house
- Install square pickets on stairs
- Rail and picket in lieu of knee wall
- Upgraded Kitchen cabinetry with Executive layout
- Delete cabinet above stove for future exhaust fan
- Gas stove rough in
- Upgraded cabinetry in Ensuite and Main Bath
- Install quartz countertops in Ensuite and Main Bath
- Double sinks / Increase height of vanity in Ensuite
- Upgrade grout colour in Ensuite, Powder Room and Garage Entry (really expensive for grout! but way less money than changing the tile)

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. It does help very much.

That's good to know regarding centering the lights. It was on my list of questions. In my current kitchen the light isn't centered it drives me nuts.

The grout is expensive! They sure know how to sucker us in.

Heidi was great with us. She didn't pressure us to do anything and was very informative.
