Our last house had a woefully insufficient A/C unit that was inherited when when we purchased the home. Our new house has no A/C and I want to make sure we don't end up with another insufficient unit.

Our house is 1850 sq ft.

What size unit have most people gone with? We have had the 2 ton recommended to us but I'm wondering what others have done. Also curious to know what brand most people go with. We've had a few options included in quotes. Goodman, Westinghouse and American Standard.

Thank you in advance.

2 ton is large enough for 1850 feet

Our last house we installed an American Standard. I choose this brand because we wanted a regular sized unite.
Some of the new units are really large.
Our neighbour installed a "Carrier". The thing was huge almost as tall as I stand and had to be 3 to 4 feet wide. Crazy huge!
He couldn't even install it between the houses, it was too large.
My advice is ask about the size of the unite before you decide.
