What does the statement your house is mirror image mean?
Does it mean the garage is on the other side only or everything is on the other side.
I mean is it just the opposite of the plans?[/list]

We just found out that our house is the mirror, which means that the entire plan is flipped. Whatever exists on the right side of the floor plan would be on the left and visa versa ... Including the second floor and basement.

Every house that I have purchased has been the Mirror Image. I guess I am just luck that way. :)

Heads up with mirror image homes theyve been known to screw up the laundry room setup. The industry standard is washer on the left and dryer on the right. They make the doors swing open with that in mind. On mirror image homes they reverse that for some reason and then you washer and dryer doors meet at the middle making it a hastle to transfer your wet laundry. Might not seem like a big deal, but trust me it's annoying. Make sure you get that corrected as soon as possible because you can't get them to switch it once it's done.

I can't believe some of the useful things I learn on this site. This explains why we have this problem in our laundry room! I just assumed it was our fault and we mistakenly bought machines that open the wrong direction for our room...I haven't looked in to it but do they make them that open the other way? Thanks for the info.

with a screwdriver you can change most washer, dryer, fridge and freezer doors to the other side

I'm pretty positive that's not the case with the washer.
