The conduit will be a typical plumbing pipe a couple of inches in diameter. It'll be whatever they have laying around. Also don't count on them installing it at a sensible location. It'll be wherever they find a straight wall run from basement to attic.

It's relatively easy to reinforce for fans or heavy light fixtures on the second floor through your attic after close. I'd be more concerned about this on your main floor.

why are you trying to run all the wires to the basement? Routers are pretty cheap. Maybe you can install a router upstairs, and have 1 wire go down the conduit.

In my opinion, the most flexible approach is to have your cable modem and router in the basement, and then you feed each room with it's own Cat5/6 run from there (known as the 'home run' approach). It might get a little crowded though, if you're using the conduit to feed all those individual rooms... but in terms of flexibility for changing things around later as your needs grow, nothing beats a network home run centre in the basement.

Gecko. My extremely limited knowledge of cables leads me to ask you this question.....
I didn't take any of the cable set up through mattamy.
Am I still able to set up a good network through the house after closing??
Thanks in advance!
