Not necessarily true, the construction manager told me for the village homes, they have upgraded the HVAC unit and because of that they have to use bigger pipes. Because of that they could not drill holes big enough thru the support beams in the ceiling and had to add the bulkheads..

I'm curious where these bulkheads might be that are causing such an outrage?

Well, for every unit it was a different case. Some actually had them running on the ceilings and the walls of the great room, some were running on all ceilings on the main floor (kitchen, great room, dining room etc.)

I checked a windmere model and the amount of bulkheads in first floor is crazy !

No wonder we had 9 foot ceiling in first floor for free thats b/c after adding all these bulkheads make the height of the first floor lower and very busy looking. Couldn't they just find a creative way to run the pipes etc inside the walls?
