I was wondering for all those who upgraded their kitchens to include Fridge Gables in Phase 3/7/17 to check if Frendel installed their fridge gables to counter depth or Cabinet depth.

We purchased a counter depth fridge to have the built in look, however cabinet depth gables were installed leaving an inch short around the fridge.

We have written this on our warranty form, however after talking with Frendel this is what Mattamy specified which makes me wonder if Mattamy tried to save a few bucks.

We have taken Executive Kitchen layout. They have specifically mention about the deeper cabinet above the fridge. If they are installing cabinet depth, then i wonder whats the difference between the upgrade one and non upgrade one.

We are closing this month. Going for PDI in about10 days. I will check mine and will update.

Thanx

Cabinet depth is 59 cm, vs counter Depth is 64 cm. so 2 inches short.

It's a finger pointing match right now. But I do need to followup with Mattamy.

Still trying to get a resolution.

Let me know what happens with your house as well. I have honestly never seen a cabinet depth gable until I moved in.

No hardwood in kitchen, but with alternate kitchen hardwood extends.

Did you mention the gables at PDI? Did they give you a response?

Hi Sns86,
Yes we do mentioned the point at our PDI and Closing, but they said it is always like this. Yesterday when we installed our counter depth fridge we noticed it was 1-2 inches coming out as u said. It made me really unhappy as i invested on counter depth fridge and executive layout to have nice looks.
Now planning to put the same thing on paper in 30 day warranty.
Plz suggest what we can do about it. How we can proceed in this matter.

I will keep pursuing Mattamy for this as I do not know where else to go. Cabinet Depth Gables are quiet useless as there are no fridges made Cabinet Depth in North America and this was Mattamy cheaping out on the specification to save money.

That's how they're supposed to be. Counter depth doesn't mean that they're exactly flush with the cabinets.

Does it look like this?

Nope. Unfortunately the gables are flush to cabinet, not the face of the door but the cabinet box. It is 59cm deep. Counter Depth is 61 to 65 cm deep.
