Hey Guys, I am looking for recommendations on Contractors or stores that you guys have installed your quartz/granite countertops from after house closing.

I just want to visit other stores and get pricing based on my kitchen layout before i commit to buying from mattamy.

What do i need to consider if i choose to get the kitchen completed after closing as oppose to from Mattamy?

We used http://www.justacountertop.ca/ they were really good. They came in prior to closing to measure and we had a countertop installed within a few days after closing.

HIGHLY recommend Foster Signature Countertops. We shopped around a lot, these guys came in with the best price by far. They had some different variations of edge profiles that others didn't. We just had the countertops installed a few days ago and they look incredible.
They are in Orangeville, but they will give you a quote by email if you send them your drawings/ dimensions.

What type of savings did you see on the post-build quartz/granite install?
Our design guide is quoting $5,500 to $6,500 for mattamy to do it
Are the savings worth the hassle?
Thanks!

Exactly Mattamy has it all calculated out, their quartz/granite is a pretty good purchase when you calculate the hassle vs savings. Plus with mattamy I think you can roll your upgrades it into your mortgage if you want to. We didn't do that but I think you can, you would have to check with them first I guess.

when you talk about $5,500-6000 to do quartz/granite, are you talking about just for the kitchen counters. Or kitchen and bathrooms in total?

Keep in mind that Mattamy has two different prices for "regular" and "premium" quartz/granite!

The only quartz I really like for our kitchen is classified as "premium" and will cost approx. 8k for my kitchen layout. I plan on getting some quotes from other vendors before we make the decision to go with Mattamy or not, but pretty sure another vendor wouldn't charge nearly as much as that.

We upgraded both bathrooms in our current home - the prices seemed more affordable since the counter space is a lot smaller and we just got regular quartz as opposed to premium.

We got "Nougat" quartz in our ensuite (small vanity, 3ish feet wide) and it was about $700. And we got "Blizzard" in our main bath (6ish feet wide) and that was about $1200.

I just did my granite installed for $2300. I got to go pick the slab of granite myself. I'm not sure the total square footage, but it was 4 pieces including a large island. I opted for the 2cm with a 4cm build up around the edges. 3cm was a little pricier and there was less selection.

Thanks for the info oddjobjay

Measurement differences aside, Mattamy is 2x to 3x more
Do you have the name/website of your granite supplier?
Do they deal in Quartz too?
Thanks!

I installed Quartz after closing with Sun Sai countertops. Installed in both bathrooms as well as the kitchen for the same price as what Mattamy was charging for just the kitchen upgrade.
Regarding measurements, I was able to make an appointment about two weeks prior to closing to have my countertop contractor and shutter supplier to come in to take measurements. I was able to have them all installed the day after I closed my house.

from what i have experienced (2 houses with mattamy). Quartz is very competitively priced. I pretty much comes down to getting something Mattamy doesn't have and having to deal with the reno to get the new counter top installed. Price with the quartz isn't that different. I've gotten a couple quotes and one was $100 cheaper and one was $300 higher.
