I *think* it depends if you are talking frameless glass door or one with frames... frames definately being cheaper, but personally I like the frameless better. That said, Mattamy could not even give me a picture of what their shower doors looked like, so I decided to compare it to other stores around, and in general, for the frameless glass shower doors I like, I'm being quoted around $1000 (I won't have the exact measurements for a while so they are rough quotes). If you're being quoted $400 for frameless glass... tell us where! |

In HV, the company Mattamy uses was Mirror Interiors ( www.mirrorinteriors.com ). They have a show room close to Winston Churchill & Dundas. What we did is after-closing we visited them, and negotiated prices for them to come and do our shower door, and 3 mirrored-sliding closet doors for us. We saved a modest amount by doing it directly through them versus through Mattamy. Although we had to negotiate with them on the pricing a bit. See if you can find out what vendor mattamy uses in Summerside for their glass shower doors. Then check out what their retail prices are like. Sometimes you have to be careful because if you say you're buying a mattamy home some of Mattamy's suppliers won't talk to you until after closing about pricing. After you work out taxes, installation costs, etc, the mattamy price on the shower door wasn't that much different (just slightly more) than us shopping around ourselves. We didn't go with the frameless door though, so ours wasn't as expensive. |

New discussion forum for residents of Summerside, in Scarborough is at www.summersider.com Phil will be moderating the forums there. Mattamy's description of Summerside... Quote: Mattamy's Summerside is a brand new addtion to an old neighbourhood. It has been thoughtfully designed for how we live today. Summerside will provide you with a home with a front door not an elevator door. It will have its own parks and spaces for neighbourly gatherings. It will be situated in a private setting just off of Warden & St. Clair. You will have a fine choice of home styles and a range of urban designs to reflect a diversity of lifestyles. You will feel more than welcome in this community and your new Toronto home.

We had a frameless shower door installed by mirror interiors about a year after we moved in. The total cost with installation and taxes was approx. $550. I beleive the dimensions were (give or take) 23 X 70?? I don't know how to post a picture on here but i can email it to you if you want it...just let me know. It is a very thick glass with a nice chrome handle. We are very pleased! Cindy |
