If you’re new to Yoga, been off the mat for a while, have a physical injury or limitation or just want to get back to basics this is the class for you! Gentle Yoga is calm, taught at a measured paced, and provides lots of individual instruction. This yoga class is designed to introduce you to the basics.
Yoga poses (asanas) will increase glandular function, circulation, spinal fluidity, immunity, it optimizes digestion and the function of the nervous system, additionally increasing the body’s flexibility and muscle growth.
The classes will meet you where you are physically, whether you have limited mobility or have never done yoga before. You will learn to:
-develop awareness and safely connect with the body and the breath in a positive manner
-learn to breathe through stress and anxiety, and eventually to control the breath
-befriend the body and experience it as a resource
-learn self-regulation and how to turn the stress response off
-develop a sense of mastery
-develop strong foundation, centre and mental focus
-enjoy the structure and support of a regular practice.
You will be guided through yogic breathing techniques for calming the mind as well as restorative yoga poses for bringing the mind and body into balance. And most importantly, you learn to re-discover the joy of movement.
8-week session, every Saturday 8-9am
