Lorne Greenwood or Mike Morgan. Both great guys and I would highly recommend them.

I would also recommend Mike Morgan. He lives in (or is moving into) HV Coates Crossing as well so he has first hand experience and knowledge with Mattamy's processes. I have used him with our first home and am using him again for our next. He thoroughly explains everything and literally "dummies it down" so that the regular joe (or jane) can understand it.

Furlong Collins by far. Being involved very closely in the whole financing/legal process..I have worked with their staff a lot. They are fantastic, knowledgeable, and very reasonable. It isn't necessarily the lawyer themself....it is most definately their real estate assistants, as they are who you are working with. I have had a bad instance with one of the firms mentioned above...but then have other transactions that were fine.

All in all, Furlong Collins is FANTASTIC!!! 905-878-8123

Jessica :)

PS: They handle hundreds of Mattamy transactions, so they are more than familiar with the offers, what you can do, what you can't, and what to change.

I used Furlong Collins. Very organized and they had a package deal to do your will at the same time!

Michael Morgan of Haber & Associates (905) 639-8894 is great! Affordable and explains everything to people like myself who don't understand any of the legaleze.
And as mentioned, he is in Coates Crossing so he is quite familiar with the area and builder both from professional and personal experience.

Looking for lawyer information other than what Mattamy has provided already. I'd rather go with somebody who's been reffered by any of u guys other than working down the list Mattamy has provided.
Thanks,
Ruby

Hi Ruby, you should have posted this in the "Mortgages and Legal" forum instead of the Mattamy Model specific forum.

We used Furlong Collins (website is http://www.furlongcollins.ca/ ) they used to be one of the Mattamy handed-out lawyer flyers.

But one thing I've noticed is most of the Mattamy-experienced Milton Lawyers are fairly similar. I.e. price is very close, and also what they advise is very close or usually identical.

Just about all of them say "Delete Clause 32" (the part about Mattamy forcing you to do an early closing) and then they insert a couple things into clause 9 ( i.e. holding down increase in levies or other purchase price things).

They (Mattamy) has the lawyer-advised amendment's "ready" on hand actually. Your lawyer doesn't have any real negotiating power on what they can or can't take out of the agreement. It just seems that way. The lawyer already knows what Mattamy will or won't change, Mattamy already knows what the lawyers in the hand-outs they give will or won't ask for changed.

The best job the lawyer can do I think is just the stick-handling on the closing legalities, and then on advising you of exactly what everything means. I.e. what AQCR_28 mentions about the lawyer throughly explaining everything in plain-english.

I used Lorne Greenwood as well, although most of it was done with his staff, who are also great to work with, and he's a part of some mortgage referral group so it's a fixed rate which seemed about on par as everyone else was charging.
