The new mortgage rules that came into effect last year seems to have many people in the position where their banks are saying they do not qualify.
Two quick stories: A realtor referred a couple who had been told by their bank for 6 months that the maximum they could afford was a home of $507,000. I spoke with them on a Thursday, met with them the next day to show them they easily qualify for a home of $600,000. Sunday afternoon the realtor sent me their Purchase Offer. They bought a house for $593,000.
Another couple who called me off this site, Hawthorne Villager, were furious at their bank. They wanted to refinance their home, consolidate some debt and take their parents off title. After weeks back and forth with the bank, they were told it can not be done. Within a month, we refinanced their home, consolidated some debt, took their parents off title and were also able to get additional equity out to pay their parents some money that was owed.
If you know of anyone struggling to get their mortgage done, please pass on my info. I would value the opportunity to see if we can assist them.
