Thank you, Shelly! Great to know that the window over the toilet is an opening one.

Can you clarify in the master, do you have 2 windows that open in total or do you mean that the 2 extra ones open for a total of 3? If only two of the three open, which one is the nonfunctional one? Also, in bedroom three at the front of the house, does the little window on the separate wall open, or is that one non-functional?

Thanks so much.

Pretty sure the window in bedroom 3 by itself facing the door as you walk in is non functional. I think out of the three windows in the master bedroom it's the one at the side (ie, not on the back wall). I also noticed that the windows are much lower to the floor than the one's in our current house. I was a bit shocked that the one's in the 2 front bedrooms were at elbow level on my 4 year old. I will be looking into a lock of some sort!

Thanks Shelly! And that's a good point about the window locks ... it's nice having big huge windows but there's a tradeoff re. safety for the little ones for sure.

We went with the frameless glass shower. It cost in the region of $2500. It looks really good from what I can tell. We are closing in a few weeks. It might have been my house you peered into...they keep locking the doors, so annoying!LOL

I love the look of the frame less shower, but I don't think we will be getting it. It's just a luxury that's not made for me, unless I have a maid to clean it for me every morning :D
You may want to consider getting a seat installed in the shower. In my last house Mattamy cost was $500.00, It runs across the back wall of the shower, they in cased it with tile then put a marble slab across the top. This is an upgrade I will defiantly do again.

Hi everyone,

We added the seat in the shower and the approximate cost was $400. I love the look of the framless shower but as justagirl said unless I have someone cleaning it for me daily it will look pretty crappy pretty fast and i'm too lazy to clean it ;)

Hi Everyone,

SallyD - we have the alternate kitchen layout and have 4 chairs at our island very comfortably. Have you looked into Sears Home for chairs? Depending on what you like of course, we were able to get some pretty reasonably ($90/chair - on sale).

Re: windows - we ended up paying for 1 more operational window to pretty much every room. When we moved in, found that we got many extra functional windows - no complaint here, but very odd?!

Re: shower - we were going to go with the frameless, but alas hardwood floors ate up the upgrade 'budget'! We had no idea you could get a seat in the shower - I would definitely go for that if we were to do it again.

Just thought I would share that the Elevation B has 26 windows. The guy measuring for blinds told me yesterday, I nearly fell over.
Granted some of them are smallish but it was still a bit of a shock!

I saw our island counter top yesterday and for sure it would seat 4.

The reality of buying the "bigger house" is starting to set in lol

The one thing that I would have liked to get was the shelving in the media niche. The price was so outrageous I couldn't do it. So now I have to research what I am going to do myself.

Sure I will. It's still under construction but the cupboards are all on the floors just waiting to be placed in, same with the countertops. Glass shower still has to come too. I'm hoping by next week, seeing as we close in 3 weeks. There's no paint or tiles either. It's amazing how fast they do it all. I've been assured it's on time and even have the PDI booked. Which is 2 days before close.

Ooh I can't wait to see your pictures too, Shelly! Did you end up getting the alternate fireplace? I thought you'd said you were closing the opening above the 2-sided one at one point ... if that's what you ended up doing then you will get shelves in the media niche; they come standard. The added-cost shelves are just for the optional fireplace with the double niches.

Hi MiltonLeo, are you sure? We closed the wall above the double fireplace and have the conduit for the TV running through from above the fireplace to the niche, but at the DC we are asked if we wanted shelves in the niche. I think it was $700 or something. Bonus if we do get the shelves, I will call our customer care person today to find out thanks!

Hi Shelly,

Yes I'm sure. We asked about shelving too in case we needed to add it and we were happy to find out it comes standard with the 2-sided fireplace option.

We were given a diagram of the standard layout called "E1 GREAT ROOM Archway, Gas Fireplace & Media Niche" that shows the elevation of the arched door, arched opening above fireplace that you can have walled in, and arched media niche.

It shows detailed measurements including the heights of the 3 standard media niche shelves (they are each 1' 4" above the each other and the base of the niche is 1'4" off the floor). It further says in the notes:
-- painted 5/8" mdf shelves supported on 5/8"x2" mdf cleats & 5/8"x2" front valence
-- provide 1/4"x1" painted door stop perimeter trim boards over mdf shelves
-- provide grommet holes in all shelves
-- provide one cable outlet & one electical outlet in media niche
-- 5/8" painted mdf ledge w/ 1" projection (that's for the bottom ledge of the niche)
-- painted window casing

So I think they should be adding your shelves in the next while. At least I hope our information is correct because $700 for 3 painted drywall shelves is beyond crazy and I don't want to pay for that either, that's for sure, lol.

MiltonLeo, thanks so much for the info on the media niche shelves. Mattamy have not responded to my enquiry yet but I found a drawing over the weekend that has media niche with shelves clearly on it. Yay! I was in the midst of searching for suitable shelving and now I can move on. Wonder if we paid the $700 what would have happened......

Check the tiles if you can before they lay them. I'm pretty sure some of ours are not the right tiles. I called them this morning. Luckily they are all still in the boxes at the various locations throughout the house. Atleast I hope they are wrong cause they don't look like something I would have picked in a million years LOL

I haven't seen a reversed one as yet.

Our kitchen was put in yesterday. Holy it's big. In the alternate layout we have 5 pantry cupboards I think. Costco here I come.

I checked out the window's the master bath has an operating window over the toilet and one over the tub. Two out of three in the master bedroom. No operational window over the window seat at the top of the stairs. The front bedroom with the window by itself does not open. And a can not recall if that window off the kitchen by the garden door is operational or not. :D
