It all comes down to personal preference. Are you throwing a huge party once you move in and want everyone to have a good time or something? lol

Here a few "little" additions, I added to my home, you may want to consider some of them, I did not include any big upgrades they are just little basic ones you may not think of.

*relocate existing hose bib to front of garage
* Add an extra hose bib near the front of your home, this enables watering the front gardens with ease also gives you and extra bib to set up a sprinkler system.
* Delete front door light and install a pot light, gives an even overall light and makes it easy to add more pot lights to front porch after close.
* Install a marble seat in the shower
* Install extra light box over soaker tub, in master en suit, this is to hang small chandelier. Add an extra switch so you can dim it.
*Add lights in coat closets
*Add ceiling light in den
*Delete bulk heads
*Delete 3" lip on regular counter top, this allows you to install back splash flush with counter top.
*Extra lighting Mattamy never puts enough lights.
*Do gas line for BBQ after close, this enables you to chose the location. Sometimes the builder puts it in awkward places for patio's.
*If you buy AC be sure you know where they are installing them. lately they have been installing them in the back yard. They are very noisy and hard to hide. Best place is on side of home as far away from windows as possible.
*Central Vac rough into garage not basement.
*Faux doors on front of kitchen Island cabinets.
*Two extra outside light on back of house
*Add wall outlet that will turn lamps on beside lamps and another switch to turn the lamps off above nite stands.
*Add wall outlets where your family room lamps would be with additional switch to turn on lamps. This allows lamps to be turned on when entering/exiting the room
*If you choose the den add floor outlet under your desk to plug computer into.
* be sure the chandelier socket is re-enforced if you are planing to install a heavy one.

I was a little nervous too about the staggered garage and driveway space ... luckily I don't have a sidewalk, but I didn't find that out until a couple of months after signing, which would have been too late to change models ... good luck with the new plan ... its very nice too!

Some of my upgrades were:

-Relocate hose bib to front of garage AND requested it be at least 12 inches from the ground. In the last new home purchased the builder had put the hose bib right at ground level with the spout facing down - almost impossible to attach the hose - builder had to turn it sideways making a mess of the drywall.
-Add extra hot and cold hose bibs to the back of the garage at least 3 ft off ground (in addition to the one relocated to the front). Nice to have for washing down dirtier jobs if I decide to put a laundry type tub in there later. Not expesive to add.
-Grande kitchen package (wall over/microwave, cooktop, pot drawers)
-Gas line for BBQ
-9 foot ceilings
-Cold cellar
-Extra pantry cabinets
-Oak stairs with dark stain (ouch - pricey)
-Bath Oasis
-All glass shower (bit expensive)
-Door from garage

Keep in mind that when I bought in Sept. 2010 we got a $5000 design centre credit which they don't offer in the 2011 releases.

Hi Hnfff,

We've actually been searching the same thing as we've been debating between the Elmira and the Perth. There is currently a shadebush for sale (or maybe is recently sold). We went through it to get an idea of the Perth main floor layout. We also looked at lots of pictures of WildRose's online. It's a personal preference. I like things about each. In the end we decided that we preferred the more open concept layout in the Wildrose/Elmira. We also really liked some of the features (stop and drop, pantry, etc). Below I've posted a couple of links that I found helpful :)
