Thank you , yes I did - I used Home Inspection Perfection. He did a great job and wasn't stand offish with the builder. This helped because it led us to enjoy a good experience while we knew someone was taking notes on our behalf.

Would definitely recommend Gavin - http://www.homeinspectionperfection.ca 647-404-9981. He's local Milton.

Good luck!

Hey everyone,

I just bought myself a Trenton and I was wondering if anyone had an idea of what interior upgrades are possible and the prices?

I know Mattamy will be giving us the design book, but they said it wouldn't be ready for a month or so. My wife and I will be heading in this Wednesday to give Mattamy our Architect's choices, and we were uncertain whether or not we should add a gas fireplace and the rec room ready package. Having an idea of the design centre costs would really help us decide.

Thanks!

What do you want to upgrade and I'll look it up

Honestly there are so many upgrades just wait and see...unless you have specific ones in mind. I live in a trenton and I absolutely LOVE the layout. The larger kitchen (I think they called it the chef's kitchen) was definitely the way to go!! We also did the bath oasis which we absolutely love, along with the gas fireplace. But in terms of interior finishes, if you are planning on doing lots of upgrades plan on spending lots...and lots of time at the design centre. I'm not sure how people choose all their stuff in one day there without hating it in the end.

So I ended up getting the following upgrades:
  • Gas Fireplace
  • Chef's Kitchen
  • Bath Oasis

The upgrades we were curious about the price were:
  • Stair railings
  • Carpet runner on the stairs
  • Carpet Under-padding
  • Kitchen Cabinets (glass doors, lights, etc...)
  • Extra electrical outlets
  • Water line to the fridge
  • Dual Vanities
  • Replacing the half-wall with railing at the top of the stairs
  • Garden Hoses
  • Glass stand-up shower

Also, in case anyone else is curious, I built a mock-up of the Trenton using The Sims 4. How close was I?

That's pretty jokes! check out the first couple pages for a good front view of the Trenton.

I'm looking for the book but we did:

- Gas fireplace
- Bath Oasis
- Enclosed Den
- we did not get the Chef's Kitchen, it looks gorgeous with it but we needed the kitchen space - I over compensated by putting in high grade granite, backsplash after the fact - looks great but indeed smaller

Design Center
- flat ceilings on the 1st floor - $1000
- hardwood in the front as well as the kitchen (kept tiles in the garage area to washroom and glad I did due to traffic) - $1200
- railings in leu of knee wall upstairs $1200 (I think)
- square railings - stained and white posts (looks awesome) - $600
- glass shower enclosure - so glad I did this, worth the $2600
- faux doors, executive package, white cabinets, one glass cabinet - $3300

After moving in:
- crown molding first floor and main hall
- wainscoting all on first floor, stairs and main hall upstairs
- pot lights in the family room and changed 3 of those ugly mushroom lights into them
- granite and glass back splash
- kitchen valence lighting

Hi group :-)

I'm buying a 30" Trenton in Mount Pleasant in a couple days....but am nervous.
It'll be my first home and I'm having the hardest time imagining the look of it. When I drive by completed ones that I think are Trentons - I'm not sure if it's the right model. Can the dining, kitchen, and family rooms fit full furniture sets?

Does anyone have pics of the in and out of the finished house that you'd like to share?
Any tips on the buying / contract portion?
Did they negotiate, should I ask any specific questions?

Any help or assistance is appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Michelle

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if you were able to delete the bulkhead in the kitchen? They said we can only partially delete it.. But I've seen Trentons without bulkheads in the kitchen.

Is there a disadvantage to partial bulkheads? In terms of piping etc.. behind the walls?

Is it harder for them to get rid of the bulkhead? I'm not sure why they won't allow it anymore..

Thanks

Hi iheart, we've got Trenton model as well and I was worried about bulkhead in the kitchen too but at our design center appointment our consultant right away told us that it can be fully deleted, free of charge. We've got chef's kitchen, executive package, I don't if it makes a difference in their decision about bulk head.

Hi Guys,

I went to check out my Trenton model today and surprised to see how the porch is build, my closing is in Jan, 2016. Is it supposed to be like this or is just a f*** up from the builder? I checked my design booklet and the grading plan and steps are supposed to be right in front of the door and the siding shouldn't be in front of the door. Is it just me or is this normal, to me it just seems messed up?

You are right, it is different than the pics on the website. Did they show you any drawings at the pre construction meeting?
I guess it wouldn't work well if the steps were aligned to the door because of the column there.
