Hi Taniak,

How did your design centre appointment go? Any further tips to consider after your meeting?

I passed by the Milton site on the weekend and the stakes are on the ground and the heavy equipment started working already !

I was reading the posts and there seems to be a lot of discussions around the staircase. Why are some people opting for hardwood? What is the standard "oak stair case"? So the standard is not hardwood? Some people also opted to stain the stair boards vs some doing it white. Any thoughts?

If the standard oak stairs is good enough then I want to avoid upgrading it since it sounds expensive.

Any one did the super shower upgrade? What design you have in mind? All glass enclosure or wall? Is a glass door good or just a simple shower curtain? I heard at the design centre that the shower curtain pole is not drilled to the walls.

I am thinking of sticking with the wall option and just add the glass door. Too much glass ,any mean watermarks to clean.

Thoughts?

What counter top are you using for the bathrooms? Just laminate or did you upgrade to granite or Quartz? I think a good laminate is sufficient versus the more expensive material options.

What do you think?

Our design appointment went very well, Heidi was very helpful. The final options that we took:
1. Hardwood group 2 (staircase comes same colour as the hardwood you choose), including kitchen and upper hall
2. Kitchen executive with upgraded hardware, few glass windows with the lights and matching interior.
3. Double vanity in master
4. Additional gas line
5. Rough in for valance light under the kitchen
6. Upgraded tiles in a foyer and one of the ensuite, plus cavier premium cabinet for one of the bathrooms
Now we have 7 days to decide on granite in kitchen. They said about $5200 with sink, faucet, curved finish and 1 1/4 thick at Mattamy. We checked few places elsewhere but they curved edge they clue it together instead of curving it like mattamy supplier.
The total that we payed a little over $16000, that is without granite. The only advice I can tell to everyone, go to design centre as much as you can and have everything ready before your appointment. We were ready and it still took us 3h20min, we did few minor changes of what we originally thought.
Good luck, it is very exciting...

Ouch!

When you said upgraded kitchen hardware, what do you mean? Did you get the most expensive kitchen package?

we get our keys on thursday. did out pdi last week, sadly some of the exterior still needed work since the rain has been making things muddy they couldn't get it all done. interior had quite a few minor things, dapping, nicks, and dirtiness in some areas. major things would be stain and varnish quality on the stairs, gas wasn't turned on, small leak from powder room toilet, squished hvac pipe in the basement and crooked ac unit.

Was wondering if anyone could be kind enough to post photos of their house. We purchased a Sherkston in Aurora and our closing date is February, 2016.
Thank you in advance!

When would you need to upgrade to 200amp electrical? Anyone here did it with Mattamy?

I plan to use electricity for stove and laundry dryer.
