Yea I gave up that dream a long time ago. I continously asked Mattamy the past year why the exact same model that is in Kitchener has a better layout. They came back and said it is based on the regional preferences of the buyers (i.e: Milton folks prefer a certain layout, versus Kitchener/Pickering folks). They took my feedback to the architects.
You really don't have a win-win scenario... if you don't go with the chef's kitchen layout, the kitchen tends be very squished. If you do go for the Chef's kitchen, you end up having the kitchen as the first thing when you enter the home. I went with the latter and opted for the Chef's kitchen.. I rather have a bigger kitchen space.
Although having gone through my framewalk, I can personally tell you, it isn't AS bad as I thought it would be with the Chef's Kitchen layout.
